There has been a lot of talk recently about Henne folding, or simply sucking, when zone coverage is used. Last night Henne showed the ability to read the defense correctly. Obviously its just one game (and a crappy defense at that), but I'm curious what type of defense Carolina used last night. Was it mostly zone, or mostly man to man? I noticed a lot of holes in the defense towards the center of the field which makes me think their did use zone. Thanks for the insight!!! Go phins

Can't wait myself.....it's comin' like an out of control locomotive!!

To be honest, I was watching the OLine so heavy and watching Reggie Bush run wild, I didn't pay much attention to the Carolina defense. I know Ron Rivera does run sort of a tampa 2 with the 4-3, which is a type of zone coverage but either way you gotta remember alot of teams are still playing very vanilla in the preseason.

Just off of watching the Fins over the last 2 years, my opinion of it all would be Henne does better against man defenses and he does struggle more with the zone/cover 2 type of defenses. But that has alot to do with the personnel on the field and we just didn't have it. You may find Henne does much better against the zone this year because we have the personnel to exploit the middle of the defense (Reggie) and to take the top off the defense (Gates).

That first New England game is a real big test for Henne.

I was wondering this myself, but aside from whether it was mostly man or zone, it's the Panthers secondary we're talking about here. Henne did a good job - would have been more impressive against a good defense but it's a step in the right direction and will hopefully help his confidence, which he needed more than anything.

well on the video posted on this site of the Fins offense last night. I did see some zone from the Panthers D, Henne did well finding fasono in the middle of the field between 2 hook zones at one point, and later found Bess on a crossing route behind the flat cb and outside the hook zone on the left side of the field...
