I was at the game yesterday, and at the play right before the 1st quarter ended was a run by David Johnson on first and 10 backed up on their own 3ish yard line. So the quarter ends and they switch sides, then Arizona attempts 3 more plays before finally punting the ball away. It was a tipped pass that was almost intercepted, a drop I believe and something else but everyone in the stands was livid that they got 5 downs backed up on their own goal line. I don't know if anyone else caught this or if it was already discussed in the GameDay thread, but if someone could check it out and verify with maybe screen shots or pictures of the plays that would be awesome. I mean the whole section I was in was screaming the same thing, we couldn't believe it, maybe there was a penalty we didn't or some reason for an extra down. Anyways just some clarification could be awesome, Thanks!

....and if I'm totally off base/crazy, I had a good buzz going so excuse me lol
 
Zona called a timeout. I didn't see anyone call it but telecasters sad arinis called it. Phantom call if you ask me.

This is correct.

It was confusing even to us watching on TV....so I imagine it was even more so at the stadium. If the TV announcer didn't clarify it, we would all still be wondering.
 
I wondered about this as well. Thanks for the explanation.
 
They called timeout but they didn't blow the whistle loud enough or in enough time or something so the play carried on. It was weird but they explained it.
 
They barely explained it though, had to rewind it 3 times to figure out what happened. I don't know who was worse, the announcers or the refs.
