I'm arguing with this Jets fan about their 3rd round pick Anthnoy Schlegal being too slow, and he keeps bringing up the point of instincts over pure speed. I can't seem to find Zach Thomas' 40 time, can anybody give me it whether it be recent or at his draft combine.

Sorry, I don't have it. And I'm not sure the argument is valid either way, because speed for an ILB is a must. What can be argued, IMO, is obsessive preperation versus pure instinct. Zach Thomas is an excellent player of the first school, while Junior Seau is an excellent player of the second school.

I dont think you can find it anymore.

I've got a sheet that the team handed out at Dolphins quarterback camp circa Wannstedt-era(I'd like to say 2003) which listed his 40 time at 4.85.

Im pretty sure I remember him running in the 4.50s, Schlegel is a Ted Johnson type MLB, besides with Vilma playing along side Schlegel can concentrate on shedding off blockers, while Vilma runs them around...

Well Schlegal's 40 time is 4.94 and D'Brick Ferguson's is 4.95 which is kinda funny. I appreciate the input guys. Best of luck to yall this year, and I hope Daunte works out,,,especially fantasy wise!

Thanks for the kind words and welcome to the boards:up: . I'm from the Carolinas so I naturally have to root for the Panthers, but I gotta admit that your boys got some real talent now. Especially with all the off season pick ups on the defensive side of the ball. Now all u gotta do is get one of your WRs to step up their game and help A. Crumpler and your team will be in good shape.

Oh yea, and thanks for taking John Abraham out of our division:D

That's the kindest thing we got from a Falcons' fan in a while. :D Thanks bro.

Thanks for the kind words bro, I look foward to seeing you around, good luck to ATL this year.

Just tell your friend that the Jets suck and you will win the argument.

Welcome to the boards, wish you guys good luck this year. Just tell your friend J.E.T.S. Suck, Suck, Suck.

I recall reading somewhere after ZT was drafted that the Dolphins (at a personal workout) had timed him at 4.55

If Schlegal is playing the "thumper" in belickicks scheme then speed is not required. Basically his job will be to tackle any RB going through the middle of their 3-4 defense...and thats about it. If you happen to get an athletic guy that can still tackle very well it gives you more flexability....

To be honest, I don't know Zach's 40 time and I don't want to know it. Nothing about him is impressive on paper, but watch the game film and you'll see what a monster he is.
