Does anyone know whats the deal wit Joey Porter havent heard or read anything about his status with the team or the plans they got for him just wondering.

Joey will star for us next year. He is 100% healthy and ready to go. Even with Joey's big contract we aren't tight for money right now and their is no way Bill and Jeff will look to ship someone with his talent away without good reason.

i hope he does for us what he did for Pittsburgh.

I wish Joey Porter would shut up, and then take a paycut. He didn't deserve and still doesn't deserve all of that money.

Oh please. When we signed Joey you were probably the first one to buy his jersey, hypocrite. The fact of the matter is that he was used SO poorly last year, its unfair to really judge his performance. I too think he is really flying under the radar and will thrive in BP's scheme.

First of all, junior, don't call me a hypocrite. I have hated Joey Porter since the day we signed him. Secondly, I do not own a Joey Porter jersey. I own the following jerseys: Dan Marino, Zach Thomas, Jason Taylor, and Ricky Williams. He better thrive in this scheme, I don't think it's possible for me to hate Joey Porter anymore than I do already. I HATE Joey Porter. Nothing more than an arrogant, loudmouth, overrated, chickensh*t, thug!

funny... I haven't heard a peep from porter all offseason.

not sure what the argument is here.

I grow really tired of all the moaning and groaning that goes on here about players.
It's really hard to be successful, when a new regime completely misuses your talent, and subsequently runs you into the ground with a 1-15 record.

Not sure how you ask the best player on your defesne, your new leader on defense, and biggest emotional player to shut up.

Joey Porter is still an elite pass rusher in this league. When/if JT gets traded he will be our primary pass rusher. With JT still on the team, Porter plays SOLB (or LOLB if you prefer), and when/if JT gets traded Porter may even move to WOLB (or ROLB if you prefer).

Last year Porter was told we would be playing a lot of 34, but the reality is that we didn't have the players for it, and we played almost exclusively a 43. Porter had to adjust to that formation--which provides considerably less sack opportunities for the linebackers--as well as play through an injury. We were bad ... very bad. Late in the season, when most Dolphin fans had stopped watching or simply made their conclusions about our team and it's big FA acquisition Porter, things changed. Joey Porter got healthy and started making plays in our 43. He is far better suited for a 34 role, and his stats, pressures, and sacks will all be better in a 34, but just having him healthy we saw him producing.

Next season he'll be back in his more natural system of a 34, with big DL to keep the OL guys off him, more LB's to cover for him as he moves to influence the play, and less obstacles and risk when he goes after the QB. This means he'll be back to what he does best, and I think he's going to have a very big season this year.

People talk about our roster like every athlete is the same, but they simply are not. JT is one of the best pass rushers of the modern era, nobody is on his level. After JT, Porter is in a class by himself as a 34 OLB pass rusher. Not Torbor, Anderson, Moses, Merling or anybody else on our roster is able to provide the pass rush that Porter brings (except of course the supreme talent Taylor). So, Parcells will be keeping and featuring Porter. Now, if we had drafted Q. Groves instead of Merling, things would be different, but we didn't. Next season we may well draft pass rushing OLB's, but not this year.

Parcells says he doesn't want any thugs simply because he knows he's going to have to work with a lot of guys who have questionable character. It isn't a bright line of not acquiring/keeping guys, it's more of a proclamation that you shouldn't do it because he's watching. But in the end, Parcells always prefers football talent to character.

Porter will start, will star as a pass rushing OLB, and is going to be kept until Parcells can draft a suitable replacement, no matter how long it takes.

Junior, I wouldnt criticize JP when you admit to having a Ricky Williams jersey. Not exactly the model of consistency and teamwork.

Hate him all you want, but he was used as a 4-3 DE here last season when he has thrived as a 3-4 OLB in this league. Despite that, he STILL was our best defensive player the final 6-8 games or so. I'll take a passionate leader like Joey on my team any day of the week.

Actually, if you ask anyone that has ever played with Ricky about him as a teammate and his work ethic then you would find no truth to your teamwork inplication statement. Consitency on the feild can't be questioned either as far as ricky goes because he always gives his all. Consitency as far as being eligible is the only problem Ricky ever had and that is more the NFL and Miami FO's fault for noy helping their players with disorders. Ricky got the help himself before his last reinstatement and everything should be fine now.

With all that being said, I STILL take Joey on my team over Ricky any day of the week. Joey is the ultimate team guy. Does anything for his team. Wants to win more than anyone. Cant say the same about Ricky.

Ricky always wants to win but I am glad to have them both and really don't have a preference as to which. I loved Joey's play from the Pitt game on and think he deserved his money after he got over the injury we knew he had when we gave it to him. Thats not his fault IMO. I hope Ricky comes out and with the intensity and heart he always played with when he was into football and just football. Just ask Ronnie what kind of teammate Ricky is. I only said that because it seems that you still question Ricky as a teammate when everyone he ever played with raves about what a help he is to teammates and what a great guy in the locker room he is.

Can't be said often enough, the previous regime had no freakin clue how to use JP. It was dumbfounding.
