question on the Defense

Was Miami's main goal to stop the run, or so the cbs suck that bad. Steve Smith is good, but those are huge numbers he put up, but Stephen Davis was shutdown and Deshaun Foster were shutdown.

I think we were playing to stop the run and to rush Delhomme on the pass. You can't account for everything.

steve smith is a darn good receiver. and we're a blitz first defense now. the opportunites for opposing teams receivers to make plays are going to be there. Just think about this though, Most teams don't have a 'steve smith' on their roster.

When you blitz blitz blitz your gonna have some WR's open.
with that being said,I thought our secondary played bad.

Yeah, the whole idea was to pressure Delhomme and keep the running game in check. When we DIDN'T get to Delhomme he would hit Smith for a big one. But we got to him enough to force him into some mistakes.

Well, stopping the Panthers run game is a way to shut them down, but Delhomme, except for that INT late in the game was right on with his throws...We slowed the run, so they went to the pass...they have a pretty balanced offense and I'm surprised we won the game...If Jake doesn't throw that INT, it's their game....

That's my point, though Steve Smith is really good, but it looked like Randy Moss played us by the yards he had

steve smith is good, but not THIS good. He benefitted from our inept Secondary.

And i'm STILL calling for Howard to be cut. He obviously can't cut it as a starter. Daniels, while not hardly a shutdown corner, is playing a LOT better than Howard.

Madison took a HUGE step back today... 3 personal fouls/interference penalties.... he cost us almost 100 total yards (a complete drive)... not to mention he was the one who blew coverage on that long steve smith touchdown.

Madison better pick it up.... we need to revamp our entire secondary... they are all sucking right now.

I knew we had some abservant people on this forum.:)

We were blitzing hard all day both to stop the run (worked perfectly) and pressure Delhomme (worked) so that puts a lot of large zone, zone coverages or man to man, which Smith will beat 95% of the NFL corners 90% of the time in one on one coverage. He played excellent and made our DB's look worse than they really are. Except for Howard, he really seems to be that bad...:)
