Would you rather have.....

A) A QB with questionable arm strength, and an extremeley questionable surgically repaired shoulder, to gamble your franchise's superbowl chances on the next three or 4 years on.......

OR

B) A qb with proven arm strength healthy shoulders, but a questionable knee injury that could limit his mobility whom you would also gamble your team's superbowl chanes on the next 3 - 4 years. Would be a smaller hit on salary cap than option A but would cost probably a first day draft pick

Giving the fact that Marino was never really mobile at all and if those were my only two options for the team to be a superbowl contender immediately, I would have to take option "B" since...

1. Injury was not to his shoulder
2. I think Willis McGahee had an injury to the same magnitude and he is a RB
3. The fact that Moss did nothing for Kerry Collins in Oakland and that throws out the whole Moss made pepper argument
4. Also you have a new offense that everybody is learning of course your team will get better by mid season no matter who the QB I.E. Brad Johnson and GUS.

I like them both but more and more comes out about brees' shoulder all the time. We know what is wrong with Pepper and he should more than recover....... Option B is best IMO

give me your opinion "Logical"

Drew Brees

Problem is that Saban may not be able to get the QB he thinks is best. If Brees says no, we would have to go after Culpepper.

You can't pretend you don't know who these two QB's are, IMO. So there are certain intangibles that work in Brees' favor, along the lines of leadership, loyalty, etc. Also, his arm strength, while not Favre-like, is certainly not mediocre.

Plus, the Miami medical staff had access to all the medical records before free agency started. This was possible since Brees had his surgery done in Birmingham, and not with the Charger's doc, so all Brees had to do was give his consent to Dr. Andrews, and all the medical records are there to see.

If the Miami docs think it's a reasonable risk that he'll be ready for the season, then it's good enough for me.

Nothing for Collins? Moss played most the season hurt and yet he was responsible for 40% of Collins' TD's. Moss did wonders for Culpepper, and for Collins.

Why is brees' injury described as "extremely questionable" and Culpepper's knee merely "questionable?" You word the entire post in a biased fashion.

People who don't prefer Daunte do so because he is not a winner, in ADDITION to his major knee injury, his attitude, his price tag, and his goofy TD dance.

First of all Marino did not have great mobility ,however he was Elusive.
Culpepper probably will not even be able to start the season much less get used to Mularky's way of running this offense and getting timing down with receivers, so forget this season if its Culpepper.

who cares???? I'll take either one, Culpepper or Brees, I don't care. They are both so much better than anything we have had around here since Marino. If we land either one today, just as long as it's Culpepper or Brees, it will be a great day for this dolphin fan.

Hmmm because it started as a labrum then all the sudden now a rotator cuff whats next???

Dante cut and dry 3 ligaments no quesion of the extent of injury

Define "extremely questionable". It's either questionable, or it's not.

Is that like "extremely medium?"

You know, living in NY all we hear about is Pennington and his injury. Now I know they are not the same, but they are similar. I gotta tell ya, I love Brees, he's one of my favorite QB's and I would be estatic to have him on the fins, but truthfully, I'm starting to lean more towards Culpepper for a couple of reasons. 1) injury is the knee, not the throwing shoulder 2) Cannon of an arm and is accurate 3) prototypical NFL qb size (which really doesn't mean much). But like I said before, I honestly don't care. Either one would be fantastic
