Hello Fins, I am in the process of switching over to Direct T.V. with that being said I am curious to know if anyone has had any previous issues with their Sunday Ticket services. After reading several reviews I am a bit hesitant. I have witnessed several fans complain about games being blacked out. Is this because the games are blocked by the NFL or is it something that happens randomly with Sunday Ticket? Basically I want to know if Dolphins games will be blocked out by the Ticket but not by the NFL. Thanks.

Not so much blackout in the the traditional since, but I believe if the game is being broadcast on regular local tv (CBS or FOX) the NFL will still black it out on Sunday Ticket. They do this so local advertisers won't complain. You can still watch the game on direct tv on the local channel listing. I believe it all depends on where the op lives. If you're outside of the Miami area you should have no problems. My understanding is if you're in Miami area you should still have access to the game on Direct TV, just not through Sunday Ticket. I could be wrong, but I think the no more blackout change was concerning the game not being broadcast at all locally because the ticket threshold wasn't reached.

The NFL has suspended the long-standing local blackout policy for the 2015 season, the league announced Monday.

The NFL will re-evaluate the rule after going through the season.

The blackout policy was instituted in the early 1970s when NFL teams relied primarily on ticket sales to generate revenue. The rule stated that if a game wasn't sold out 72 hours prior to kickoff, they would be blacked out in the local TV markets.

The NFL is the only sports league that televises every one of its games in local markets on free, over-the-air television.

The Federal Communications Commission also came out recently against the blackout policy. In September 2014, the FCC repealed its sport blackout rules. The order eliminated FCC reinforcement of the league's blackout policy, but it did not affect the league's ability to maintain and enforce the blackout policy through contractual arrangements with programming distributors.

With the proliferation of booming television deals and increased public funding of stadiums, the NFL has decided to run a season without the policy in place and analyze whether the lack of a blackout threat drastically alters ticket sales in certain markets.

Living out of state of Fla, it's the BEST thing ever for me to see the Fins every week.

I hate Direct TV with a passion. If it weren't for their Sunday Ticket Id cancel them as fast as I can. Awful.

I left Direct TV years ago. I just couldn't justify the cost, seeing the only advantage it had over other options was Sunday Ticket. I've been a big supporter of NFL Game Rewind in recent years, but I know a few people don't like that option either. BTW Game Rewind will no longer exist and will be replaced by Game Pass, which is a similar NFL product. Looking forward to getting my first peak at Game Pass on Aug. 1.

I'm fortunate to be grandfathered in, to only have it for the NFL package. It's all I pay for. The box is shut off for 7 months of the year. I use regular cable for my regular tv watching year round.

Exactly my sentiments as well. Too many pain in the ass issues due to the satellite connection vs a hard up and down link. But the wife is a cable hater so we still have direcTV. And the directv advertising has always gotten on my nerves with false accusations. That said for Sunday Ticket my experience is if the game is on a local channel its blacked out on the Sunday Ticket channel so you just watch the local channel through DirecTV still. In other words you can always watch the game even if blacked out on Sunday ticket.

Living down here in the Miami area, up, that's the way it worked for me last year.

It's funny I have the NFL ticket but have season tickets for the home games and all the away games I could get on local TV. I really only get the benefits on the bye week and lets say when Dolphins play a late game or Monday night etc. should probably just cancel it but when it gets late in the season and were fighting for a playoff I want to make sure I can follow the other teams games that are in contention.

Just pray it doesn't storm during the game or you'll lose satellite signal. I had issues with Direct TV tampering with my account, adding a tier and insurance with out my permission. Be sure to check your itemized bill on a monthly basis. Prices rise on a bi-yearly to yearly basis and the offer little offset any cost to continued costumers.

I had many issues with them concerning NFL tix. Example: I moved last year and when talking to a Direct TV rep I had mentioned that I wasn't interested in their current moving package and mentioned the only reason I have Direct TV is b/c of NFL ticket. He said I could opt out of the moving packages and get NFL tix for free. Sweet, huh? Not so fast. When the season came around I was being charged for NFL ticket and had to call. Be aware that the Direct TV representatives have nothing to do with NFL tix, cannot make any offers and they will transfer you to the NFL department if there are any problems. I had to call on 4 separate occasions, twice talking to a "manager" before the issue was finally resolved. It was soon after this that I noticed on my bill they had added extras to my account in what I can only assume was to make up for the price of NFL ticket which they had finally given me after I made the manager go back and listen to what had been promised me.

Also consider that Direct TV is now owned by AT&T. AT&T is run through fiber optics, not satellite, so be weary of what you may be paying for in an HD satellite as the tech merger will take some significant time.

You're correct. What people fail to realize is that if your area is showing the game on regular TV, then it will be blacked out on the Sunday ticket. That happens a lot here in the DC area, cbs, fox will show the Fins game, so directv blocks it on the Sunday ticket. You still get the game, but on local TV which plays on directv.
