The last 3 or 4 weeks those threads bashing Henning and Pasqualoni have been really flooding Finheaven..

Before coming to Miami last year, where were they, and how good were their teams having them there.

Im pretty sure Henning was retired and Pasq was at Dallas I forget what he was coaching though.

Henning was last fired by The Panthers, was criticized for conservative play calling -- makes you wonder why he was hired here.

In seven years as OC Henning Offenses Rank:

22md – yards
15th – points
So to say Henning is an offensive genius is a bit of stretch pretty much middle of the pack and very conservative. Long term Miami will need an infusion of fresh thinking on this side of the ball if they want to rival the Pats in the division. I am not sure if that person is David Lee (QB coach and patriarch of the Wildcat) or Weiss or some other external coach but at some point the Dolphins need to open it up and take some shots and Henning isn’t that guy.

Pasqualoni is only in his second year as a defense coordinator so to call him “good” would leave the verdict unchecked. He took over an aging defense with turnover from top to bottom the year he started. This year he has a young defensive secondary and average at best middle linebackers, not to mention we need a young stud NT to take Ferguson’s play in the middle over long term. He might get the ax after this year but I am not sure it would be his fault as much as it was the circumstance he was dealt.

Bottom line is this, with what they both have had to work with when taking over their respective positions I think personally they have done a pretty good job. Lets face it this team still has a lot of needs and to even be close in games against the Colts, Saints, San Diego and teams of that stature says a lot about the coaching. Yes they make mistakes but so does everyone.

I agree with you at some point. Last year was last year, easy schedule, we wer coming from a 1-15 season, Pennington was new in the system, those things played well for us. This year we were up against good deffenses and great offenses as well. Our Oline is one of the best in the league and our dline is coming up strong, There is no way in hell we could end up calling the same plays we did last year, Our opponents are different, more improved and better, OC and DC have done a good job, well yes in a way, but they can do a lot better.... IMO

They can and will do better when a few holes are filled. This team from top to bottom is already better if nothing more then from an attitude stand point. They have not quit in one game this year.

Did you see the end of the buffalo game??

Pasq was a LB coach in Dallas, prior to that he was run out as the HC in Syracuse....

Henning was retired when we called him...he was run out as the HC at UCLA and run out of Carolina as the OC prior to that.....now I want them both run out of Miami....

Cause he's Parcells boy and Miami has created a conservative offense.

You make good points, but I have to disagree, Miami has enough talent on both sides of the ball to be better then they have played in some games.

On defense, Miami seems to play better in the 1st half, then in the 2nd, if you take a closer look, you will see that Miami is not nearly as agressive as they were in the 1st half.....

Big example was the Saints game, if Miami Pressures Brees enough, they have a every tough time coming back.

On Offense, you have RBs are nightmares for defense, and a QB that has all the skill in the world, but not as much experience, but still has shown enough maturity to win almost half of the games he has started in a final drive, but instead they decide to get cute and shoot themselves in the foot.....

Big example, was the Bills game. Ricky is ripping the the Bills defense apart, gets inside the 10 yard line (I believe as close as the 1), and what do they do, have Ricky pass the ball. :hsmash:

Then later Miami needs to score a TD, they have a RB that is fully capable of averaging 5 yards or more the entire drive, and a young QB that has already driven the field 3 times for a game winning drives, but what do they do?

They bring in Pat White, who fails, and now Miami has 1 less down, the pressure escalates twice as much for Henne, and using Ricky on 2nd down is no longer as effective.

A good offensive coordinator puts his player in better position to succeed, you do not get cute, and do not go away from your strength at the end of an EXTREMELY important game.

Miami still does have some big holes to fill, and the injury has hurt our effectivness, but we still have enough talent to win, if our coaches did a better job.

Pasqualoni blew at Syracuse. And its not as if he just blew. He was the guy that lead to the downfall of the program. As most of you know, Syracuse was typically a college football heavyweight. Enter PP. That program has struggled to even sniff getting back into the mix since he left. When he got there, they were still a quality program that attracted some good recruits. Now they blow year in, year out.

So there are a lot of quality coaches who dont have good records as a college HC. But, you must consider that a lot of them are at schools that never get great players. Not every coach can turn a program around and that dosent make them a bad coach.

But, when you go to a school that has been historically good and gets good players still, and you proceed to turn them into a perinal doormat the way PP did at Syracuse, to me thats a bad sign.

Personally ive not been impressed with some of his blitzes, we had trouble creating pressure all year, how did it take us till week 5 to start bringing in the safety? Why not line our pass rushers up in more exotic spots?
I watched Denver on thanksgiving, all 3 of their sacks came from misdirections and unique positionings to capitalize on a struggling Giants player(left guard that game, and granted, believe 2 of them were considered coverage sacks). One was a thing of beauty, with Elvis Dumervil faking a outside rush, Vonnie Holiday(Vonnie!) breaking outside and blocking the left tackle as Elvis cutting back in and eating up Manning.

Perhaps im missing something, and ill be the first to admit im not defensive mastermind, but it seems like hes been relying way to much on the physical abilities of JP and JT to get to the Qb....and those abilities are obviously not productive enough.

edit: and by no means am i trying to compare us to Denver's D, just using that as an example(can also see Ravens defense or even the dirty Jets). It is admitely possible im overlooking something painfully obvious.
