Quick question

I know this isn't related to Miami, but this section has a lot of people, so my question will be responded to quickly, whereas, it wouldn't be until tomorrow if this was asked in the introduction section or questions about the forum section, since not many people are in those sections. Anyway, what do the thanks mean? and why does a person thank another? what does that mean and do you get icons related to the reputation you build? Because do other people have a scale icon below them, because I just noticed that one came about for me or was added. I didn't add it myself, it just showed up recently. Does that mean as I'm seen as fair, or a analytical person or person who likes to debate or built such reputation, because of the justic scale I have as an icon added below? lol
