Put it this way: The biggest news at camp on a busy today wasn't when Miami took a significant salary-cap hit ($4.5 million) by terminating the contract of wide receiver-turned-tight end Ernest Wilford, who was a bust as a free-agent signee last season.
Nope.
The biggest news was when the Dolphins traded offensive linemen Andy Alleman and Ikechuku Ndukwe to Kansas City for an undisclosed 2010 draft pick.
Get 'em outta here!
Next!
And these were two guys who were starters last season, albeit in emergency roles, right through Miami's one-game playoff appearance.
Alleman started the last five games at left guard in place of injured Justin Smiley, and Ndukwe started every game at right guard after Donald Thomas went down in the season-opener.
And now they're judged to be not good enough even to make it to the September cuts?
The clear message out of Dolphins Inc. - and this is good news for the Miami faithful - is that the boss, the general manager and the head coach think this season's roster composition is going to be appreciably better than the one with which they went 11-5 and qualified for post-season competition last season.
