what do you think of him? He's one of the guys I would love to draft since the current guys at DT are aging or just aren't proven. I don't watch Ohio State very much but I hear a lot of good things about him. I'm thinking we should take a serious look at him if we have a mid-round draft pick again, but I don't know exactly where he's projected to go at this point, or after all the pre-draft stuff.

anyways, discuss...

daaamn....... shotdooooownnnnn

Pit**** doesn't have the size I like...especially when we would need a NT. I like Alan Branch if he declares, he's got all the skills and size. 6'6" 330 lbs.

idk if were gona go Dline we should get J. Moss outa UF the guy is nasty i say nasty

I think he is too highly rated to be a 1st round pick for the Dolphins. I see him as a sort of Jeff Zgonina 2.0. That isnt a knock, but as a jack of all trades type big DL, he doesnt have a set position in the defense.

He's not big enough generally speaking to be a pure NT, and he isnt fast, lanky, and athletic enough to be a DE or DT in this system.

That is exactly it. We have enough projects, and no clear future starters, and we are going to start needing some of those soon. Besides Matt Roth, every "big" DE/DT or NT player we have on the roster is either 30+ years old or a young player who hasnt proven a damn thing on the field. Dont quote me on the exact ages, but-

Keith Traylor is gonna be 37, and odds are wheels will fall off soon.
Jeff Zgonina is gonna be 37, and is unhappy with his play time.
Dan Wilkinson is I believe 34.
Kevin Carter is going to be 34.
Vonnie Holliday is going to be 31 and is a FA.

It's entirely possible that a couple of those players dont return next season.

Let's look at the replacements we have right now-

Matt Roth is the only young DE who has done a thing on the field and has any sort of pedigree.
Kevin Vickerson made a couple of plays vs. 3rd stringers as a rookie in preseason, but nothing this year and he's never been on the field.
Fred Evans looked good vs. 2nd stringers in one preseason.
Rodrique Wright has a decent pedigree, but he's still completely unproven.

Pit**** would be an asset if we were to draft him. He would play the position similar to Kevin Carter and Vonnie Holiday. He is about 6'3" 295 has a 36" vertical jump, is one of the strongest players on the OSU team with a non stop motor and runs around a 4.7 40.
