The following are just a few brief quotes that shed some light:
  • JT: On if last year’s team lacked killer instinct) – “This team lacked a lot of things last year. No. 1 was execution and discipline and it all goes hand-in-hand.â€Â
  • JT: (On if he thinks the team has become more disciplined) – “I think we’re more disciplined because we’re emphasizing it, No. 1. No. 2, it’s a fresh start. All the crap that’s been surrounding the team the last few years isn’t around now".
  • JT: “You just have to outplay somebody. Guys are going to quit in this league. Guys will play four seconds in a down and stop.â€Â
  • Takeo Spikes: "I always thought [Williams] was a back who could run past you," "but who preferred to run over you."
  • Saban: "Everybody has a choice and decision to continue to compete for that position,". "I would hope that we don't have players on our team who let the depth chart determine the kind of character and attitude that they compete with."
  • Saban: "I am not going to give our players any excuses for not being successful, so we are going to take the guys that we have here and give each and every one of them to play as well as they can possibly play".
  • Saban: “you are first taught what to do, then you are taught how to do it, and thirdly, you learn why it is important to do it that way. That part of it gets into the understanding and we try to get that with our playersâ€Â.
  • Saban on the media: “You ask me all these hypothetical questions and they are insignificant to me for what we are trying to accomplish. I am not mad at anybody. It is called intense.â€Â
  • Saban "We are not looking for sheep, we are looking for wolvesâ€Â
  • Houck: "I'd just as soon not talk about last year," "That's somebody else. I really don't know what they were doing."
  • Saban: "Expectations lead to Frustration. We are focusing on one play at a time. You don't think about a planting a flag at the top of the mountain while your standing in base camp".
  • Shula: "I stopped by his office and we talked about a variety of things for almost an hour. He was very interested in what we had accomplished here in the past and the tradition of the Dolphin franchise. I think he will do a great job building a winning team again."

(SABAN: On if there are concerns about the quarterbacks getting the ball to the receivers) –

“They get it to them everyday. I have a concern about everything. I have a concern that we’ll jump offside. I have a concern, will we pass protect well enough? Will we play good enough in the red area? Will we score touchdowns? I don’t have any concerns about our quarterbacks. They are what they are. We are going to coach them to do what they can do in the game and we should be productive in what we do if we execute together as a team. They’re both capable of doing it.€Â

You gotta love this administration. You just know we're gonna be great.

Is it just me or do some of Saban's quotes seem very similiar to Ricky Speak, just more drawn out.:)

definately a complete different attitude. You can hear the determination, the confidence, and the committment to being the best of their ability. you can see why so many fans are perhaps hoping for a more that .500 season. Which would be a massive improvement.

LOVE the new attitude!

You got that right...as I stated in another post...Saban has brought this team and its fans something far more valuable than a slew of Pro-Bowl calibur players...he's brought us hope...this is the kind of philosophy a team needs to become a champion, and that's all I needed to see out of him...the rest will just fall into place.

One day I'd love for someone to write a tell all book about the behind the scenes happenings with Dave Wannstedt's Dolphins teams. I'd definitely buy it to see just how bad things were, even though we all pretty much know they were really bad.

Saban brings accountability, leadership, passion etc. to this team, You can see the pieces falling into place. If you build a winning attitude, you are bound to have success.

Houck: "I'd just as soon not talk about last year," "That's somebody else. I really don't know what they were doing."
with the record we had last year, apparently neither did they.

You know, i bet Ricky balked on this team after seeing the line last year. He new he was going to get killed. i know alot of people are pissed off at Ricky, but by the comments seeping slowly out from various players i believe Wanny was more responsible for Rickys departure as Rickys insecurites. You take a daft coach with no confidence. You get him to hire an line coach with no experience.. Damn an OC with no experience... and you have a recipe for mutiny!
