This post is meant to look at Ronnie's stats. A statistical break down of his runs.

Right now, Ronnie main problem is negative plays. If you break down his runs from his first game, he had 15 positive carries for 71 yards 4.8 if you eliminate the 7 negative runs that went for -14 yards. I'm not saying to eliminate these runs to make Brown look better, its purely to analyise him as a young RB.

He is making silly mistakes, like not taking the 1 yard gain when nothing is there. That is something experienced RBs do, instead of taking a 3 yard loss.

Against the Jets, Ronnie had 7 positive carries for 33 yards and 4 negative carries for -4 yards. Here we can see that he is trying to improve on getting to the LOS in order to prevent negative plays.

I think Ronnie will become a great back, but that isn't what makes me think he will be. What makes me think this is, his ability to gain extra yards after contact. By looking at his gains per run.

Ronnie only had 1 carry for 1 yard gain.
He only had 1 carry for 2 yard gain.
He has 3 yard gains 6 times.
He has 4 yard gains 5 times.
He has had 5+ yard gains 10 times.

Once he gets a knack for turning those negative -1 yard runs into positive 1 or 2 yard gains, you will see a RB that will start to dominate defenses. The fact that he has 10 carries for over 5 yards says quite a bit to me. I think he is the type of running back that needs a good 20 carries in a game to get his rhythm and start pounding the defense, and then you'll see him break for big runs. Right now, however, he needs to work on elminating his negative carries, that will improve his game a lot.

P.S.

This post is meant for the people that aren't hating on R. Brown. I don't have the time or care to defend my thoughts in this post to those that believe Brown is a 'bust' if thats your take, please keep it out this thread as I wont reply to it.

I got the numbers from looking at the play-by-play stats on nfl.com for both games. From there I seperated the negative runs from positive runs and added the stats. Then I broke it down further, looking at yards gained on each run. It was interesting to see that Ronnie has had 5+ yard carries 10 times.

I was watching some plays last night from the game, and the dude is a bull. On one play he gets hit at the LOS and pushes forward for 4 yards (with 2 Jets on him) and a first down.

Once he over comes the negative runs and the OL starts pushing the LOS forward, he will be a power back that wears defenses down. Im sure of it.
