Just a random post praising one of our offensive players that did well this year.

Randymac quietly had the 2'nd best year of his career in 2006. Posted 62 catches, 640 yards, with 3 touchdowns and 0 fumbles. this guy barely ever fumbles.....

anyway GO PHINS and GO RANDY he is one of the best TE in the LEAGUE STILL!!!!:dolphins: :dolphins: :ninja:

I concurr and the randyman is one of my favorite players i think with the way our last two seasons have gone our misguided fellow fin fans need a way to vent their frustrations.
our qb and oline has hindered him and my beleif is he will have a better season next year.

the voice of reason
is the randyman
the hardest working
dolphin of them all

this was a paid for promo for randy for dolphin of the year.:ninja:

I like McMike and all, but...he dropped so many passes this year and played sparatically at times IMO.

One thing I have really noticed about him is this, he seems as if he doesnt really stay in great shape. Not sure if he is much of a workout warrior. He seems softer bodied each and every year since he came into the league. He also seems slower and not as quick, although he is still early on in his career. Just wonder if anyone else has picked up on this?

It's probably hard to motivate yourself when you know you are going to be primarily used as a blocker. That should change wit Cameron now. He will be utilized more, and I think his consistency will return because of this. I believe the same with Chambers in terms of utilization and consistency, but lets not hijack this thread.

I concur here, just pointing out something i have subtley noticed the last few years. Hey, I just want to see the McMike of old myself. I definitely feel that this will be great for McMike and all, but, I want him to be in top shape before the start of camp so that he can fully take advantage of this opportunity. I feel like personally, he can be better prepared than he has been. I also noticed this about Marshall Faulk his last few years, it seemed as though he wasnt in top shape as he should have been, just to name another player, and just an observation on my part.

McMichael had a terrible year. He had the drops like a crazy person.

However, I think he can get back to form. He wasnt being used properly. He was being used too often as a blocker, and running too many release routes or safety valve routes where he was getting badly thrown emergancy checkdown passes.

Cam Cameron knows how to use McMichael. Like he used Antonio Gates, and like how Norv Turner used McMichael in the past. As an aggressive recieving threat first.

As far as the dropped passes issue...he hasnt been alone in this respect, it has been a team problem for a while now, with the exception of Wes. Im tired of it and i want it to cease, we cant win like that. Its been a total team problem, that and missing assignments on the offense in general.

You know, i cant tell you how many times i saw them have randy run those little dump off routes in the flat, he catches the ball, and just as he turns, some ******* hits him right in the d*** knees and almost takes him out. That ticked me off every time i saw it. Poorly designed plays indeed!!!

if by "terrible year" you mean, "top 5 TE in the NFL".... then yah.. he had a terrible year.

antonio gates and tony gonzalez are in a class of their own when it comes to tight end production. these 2 guys are #1 and #2 obviously.

after that...... who would you name as the best tight ends? Alge Crumpler? His stats are slightly better than randy's (only a little).... so we can put him at #3....

after that... randy is right there with any other tight end. ... jermaine wiggins? dallas clark? check their stats and you'll be surprised how far ahead RANDY is compared to them.

Most of the time blocks now.

how does he mostly block!?!? he caught more balls than every other tight end in the whole NFL except about 4 or 5...

i cant wait to see how well he can do in an offense that loves to use its tight end... cameron is probably psyched to have a good TE here to work with.

Except of course, Randy McMichael was 9th in the league in recieving yardage for tight ends. I'm not entirely certain how you can claim he's "far ahead" of them when he's actually behind them.

Behind him in terms of pure overall yardage, there was Desmond Clark who had 14 less yards on 17 less receptions and double the touchdowns, or LJ Smith who had 29 less yards on 12 less receptions and almost double the touchdowns.

Considering their are only about 15 "good" recieving tight ends in the league, it's hard to suggest being 9th is that great.

Agreed. One of the most important tasks he had this year, was to play as a blocker. He helped the OL a great deal. He is a very good player. If he stops dropping passes, and gets in better shape, he'd be in contention for first place with Gates and Gonzalez.

oh im sorry instead of top 5 he's top 9... he's number 7 in receptions. you're really gonna say #7 in receptions and #9 in yards is a "terrible year" ?
