Our offensive coordinator has no clue how to utilize these two in the backfield at the same time.
Almost everyone here had visions of glory when Ricky came back off suspension. Who would have thought that using these two at the same time could actually HURT our offense as it has?

In addition, why don't we pass the ball to our running backs more? I just do not understand that. Both of them have good hands and can run short to intermediate routes. Our wideouts are only "decent"...so why get these two guys more involved with the entire game plan from here on out?

because linehan is in a completely different situation than minnesota. not sure when he'll figure that out

we can't even excute basic plays, once we accomplish that then we might see something special

I'm not sure how to make Ricky and Ronnie in the same backfield work. Someone on the staff needs to keep digging through film of Auburn and find out how to make it work. In the mean time, a simple rotation is enough for me. This rotation seems to be working out fine. I mean, we got like 25 carries for 140 yards against the Browns. That's pretty darn good. In the first half, Ronnie was running well on the Patriots...before we pretty much abandoned the run in the second half. We ren well on the Falcons. Obviously we ran all over New Orleans. Ronnie ran really well on the Chiefs. The rotation thing is working, IMO.

But, Linehan is a little bit clueless. He's not use to this. His philosophy has the pass setting up the run. In our case, we've got the run setting up opportunities in the passing game, and Linehan doesn't appear to know how to make that work for us in terms of getting first downs and putting the ball in the end zone. Norv Turner certainly knew how to do that...

Does anyone else think that the team maybe better using just one of them the majority of the time?

i'd like to see ronnie as the feature back for one game now that he's progressed and is showing alot better vision than at the beginning of the season when he was the feature back for a game or two just to see what he could do

Thank you. That is exactly what i think.

I would too. Especially considering his week 2 performance against the Panthers where he had 23 carries for 132 yards and 1 touchdown.

I wuold also like to see him as the featured back, I think he'd be more effective on his final say 12 carries of a game rather than his first 12, which is why I believe he should be getting the majority of the carries.

I too agree that Ronnie should be the featured back, he was drafted on the premise he could run, catch the ball, block - everything ie Marshall Faulk, E. James. And I think he can. But I think given where our record is at, part of the plan is to showcase Ricky a bit to get something for him.

The only way the R&R experiment would work is if each one was capably adept at blocking as well as running/receiving. We know that Ronnie can block but RW may be another story. Besides would you want to have your $30 mil RB turn into an overpaid FB?

Yes!

Exactly. RB is a home run threat, but the odds of him hitting a home run are much lower at 12-14 touches than with 20-25.

Just wondering CK....You know when they have both backs in...one on each side of the QB....why can't they run from that position...all the QB has to do is swing either right or left....kinda like a draw play...from the side instead of the normal set. Why do they have to throw every time they use that set?

As far as I am concerned, 99% of our offensive problems this season are a direct result of Linehan's incompetence....... the other 1% is Chambers' butter fingers.
