I remember when about two years ago with my girlfriend - We were out shopping and I squatted to take a look at an item in a lower display case. Little did I know that she squatted next to me to look at the same item. On my way up, I didn't notice how close she was to me and i elbowed her, with pretty good force, in her right eye, giving her a helluva bruise and breaking her glasses. I had to meet her family for the first time that weekend, and I remember the looks on their faces when she tried to convince them it was an accident. I still feel like they judge me for the possibility that I may have beaten their daughter/sister and there is no way I can prove what actually happened unless I bring the store clerk in as a witness.

I'm not saying whether Randy is innocent or not, but accidents can happen, especially when you're drunk.
 
I work in the criminal justice system and I see this type of case on a daily basis. You would be amaze how often it would be the girls fault as much as the guy. It's a two way street.

I never said that you said anything.
Some have said, "if that was my sister...", or "he's a wife-beater, plain and simple..."
On the other hand, some people will say: "leave him alone, he's my favourite player".

That is why I'm proposing that the law applies whatever punishment is required.
The team (or fans for that matter) don't need to get involved at this stage.
If McMichael's personal problems intrude on his job, Saban can take appropriate action.

Step 1: CHARGE the accused
Step 2: CONVICT the accused
Step 3: allow the accused to SERVE his punishment
Step 4: following the completion of any of the above steps, assess whether the accused still has value to the organisation
Step 5a: If NO to step 4, cut/waive, etc
Step 5b: If YES to step 4, help the accused to put things in order, and move on...

I know, I know. This is the most outrageous idea for a judicial system, to ever be conceived by a member of civilised culture!

Call me crazy, but I'm prepared to allow McMichael due process, before sticking his head on a pike in the Tower of London.

I totally appreciate what you're saying. I'm not making any moral judgments of Randy, I'm just aggravated that he seems to be establishing a pattern of getting himself in situations that could affect his contributions on the field. I complain not out of moral outrage, because I don't know whether he's criminally guilty of anything or not.
 
to much negative press about a player who never will see the field in a dolphin uni

Justice is blind and for sexual crimes scares are really big.

If you know somebody (a girlfriend, a sister, a cousin, etc) how was sexually attacked, then you may feel what kind of rage and fear they have for guys like Elam. Laws were written to punish the guilty and protect the innocent.

Most of us won't feel well about what Elam did, but if this guy did serve his time, he deserves another chance. As a new chance this one will be full of eyes over him, he must seriously prove he's changed and that he's worth.

On what Randy did, i don't know the man nor his wife, so i won't express bad word on them, specially because that kind of problems have great variations from case to case and most of the causes came from roots like lack of communication, drugs/drinking problems and someone else involved.

I agree. Last year's offseason was insane and this Randything puts my problem-alarm on.
I hope everything keeps in wheels and Miami build a competitive team this year.

I agree completely.
Whether you like Randy or loathe him, the only concern for us fans and for the organisation is how this affects his responsibilities to the team.

If it came to it, I would think more highly of Saban if he could help McMichael straighten things out and overcome the difficulties in his personal life, rather than just simply cut/suspend/fine him as some have stated.

But that's just me: I prefer peaceful solutions to resolving such problems. ;)

No, to stop him from supporting wifebeaters. This is the second time now in about a year that this has happened. Randy had a chance to be a great tight end, but his wife beating antics are becoming way too much of a distraction to the team.
