Maybe with the trade back the team sees value in taking him at 13. I wonder if he can play Sam. Seems like he has the size for it. He would probably be a very versatile SAM with the experience he has at MLB. Finally, he would allow us to have a plan B if Kiko cannot stay heathy.

Ragland is probably the pick if we go LB at 13 ... but I'm expecting us to either select a CB or trade down again. Your points are well taken, we need 1 more LB at least because counting on Kiko (Mike) and Koa (Sam) both being healthy for 16 games plus a postseason is poor judgement. Ideally, we would upgrade from Jelani (Will) as well.

Not opposed to the idea of trading back again depending on what's there. This seems like a weak draft class. Question is how far back and who ur thinking of targeting? Maybe gamble, trade back a couple of spots and still get Ragland or someone else

Not sure I want this GM trading back esp with his horrible trade value so far.

I honestly don't know why we swapped. Much rather have given up a late round pick or two then swap firsts

I will say this though. He will look like a genius if they pan out

Upgrade Jelani? He's one of the only consistent defensive players we have.

Its not genius in any context to take over some other teams free agent mistake and sacrifice a top 10 pick doing it.
Im sure Minnesota does not view thier GM as genius in the Mike Wallace trade

Alot of people in the draft forum say they would hate the pick and would rather draft Lee the lb from Ohio state but personally I like Ragland alot. He is what this team needs, an instinctive tough linebacker that's going to lay the wood on somebody we need to instill some more toughness in this team and even though he would only be a first and second down player cuz he's not that great in coverage I think it would be a pretty good pick

Miami must go the next level of defense and fix that, after the past two season at DL. It was obvious their lack of LB play cost this team in the past year, inability to fill holes and cover. Hats off to the Panthers and Broncos with their LB play, and ironically their trips to the SB. We tend to forget what we had many years ago, franchise QB and great LB's. Somehow we have moved on from that

You make is sound as if we traded our top 10 pick for those guys by saying we are sacrificing a top 10 pick... We are really only sacrificing 5 selections of picks. Not the worst thing in the world esp if those guys pan out well

Why the hate re Jelani Jenkins? I think he's quite good, when healthy. We also have a very decent backup in Neville Hewitt, who came on in the latter part of last season.
FWIW - I think that a CB is more likely than Ragland. He's pretty good, but we have a lot of needs.

I think since the scheme has changed with Joseph, corner isn't much of a need as the basic need for LB's and their important roles

I think with the obvious glaring holes on the offensive line, the pick will be an O-lineman, unfortunately. Wish they would have addressed it better in FA so a more valuable player could be taken.
