raiders and bucs diff info...all 4first day picks how stuipd!

I agree... all 4 1st-day picks to move up three spots is stupid... even if it IS the #1 pick in the draft. I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I just see far too many talented WRs in this draft to be drooling all over Calvin Johnson.

Between Jarrett, Bowe, Meachem and Ginn, any of those guys have as good a chance as anyone at being successful in the NFL. Not to mention lower-tier guys like Anthony Gonzalez.

Besides... out of the many, many "sure thing" WRs picked in the first round through the years, how many have actually lived up to expectation? If the Bucs pull the trigger on this deal, I have a feeling that they'll be the butt-end of a joke in about three seasons... and the Raiders will be back in the playoff hunt.

That may be the worst trade in NFL history if that happens, plain and simple.

I agree, it is a stupid trade but that would be the price required to move up to be #1

If Oakland and Tampa switch 1st rounders, and Cleveland does take Russel if he's there at 3, and Brady Quinn falls to #4 that could cost us Quinn, unless we tried to convince the Raiders to move down a second time because I don't think the Raiders would look at Peterson over Quinn at 4.

Well, there are some who compare Johnson to Randy Moss, only without the baggage.

It may be a steep price to pay, but just because a team gets a bunch of picks in return doesn't necessarily make it a bad trade.

Dallas did something similar for Tony Dorsett years ago, trading a bushel of prime picks to get him. He had a hall of fame career, and the traded picks turned out to be a bunch of mediocre players.

Similarly, when N.O. traded their whole draft, and the following year's #1 and #3 for Ricky Williams, the Redskins did very little with the bounty.

Personally, having a lot of draft picks is great, but I think fans do tend to value them a bit too much at times. 4 mediocre players didn't equal Tony Dorsett. Not by a longshot. It's far more important to have a personnel staff in place that knows what to do with them. I sincerely hope Mueller is up to his past standards, or it won't matter much if we have 6 picks or 10.

And I think they're right. But, there are about 10 WRs in this draft over 6'2" with sub 4.4 speed. I'm not saying CJ won't be great. He looks amazing. However, this is a deep WR draft. Plus there are 5 or 6 guys at other positions in the top-10 that I think have as good or better chance than CJ at being a superstar at their position.

1977? That's reaching pretty far back. Too far back for me. If you're sold that CJ will be a Hall of Fame WR, then I say go for it. I'm just not convinced.

I'm from the school that you build a team from top-to-bottom through the draft. Not just blow all your picks on one college player in a draft full of talent at his position.

I can't see how 1 player could be that valuable to any team as far from playoff contention as the Bucs. If he was the last piece they needed to assure them of a Super Bowl quality team, maybe, as they are right now? Not me, no sir.

Thats not so bad...We can pick up Levi Brown or Tedd Ginn in the first and Colby in the second. 60th pick overall.

This would be horrible imo. Oakland would take Quinn at 4 and as a Quinn fan Oakland is the last place I want to see him.

Hmmm actually makes sense, because Quinn fits well into the west coast offense and yet has a strong arm for Davis. Was this the plan all along?

The Raiders could still potentially wind up with Russell at 4. Cleveland could still take Quinn at 3 (Their OC did serve under Cam) so if Cam's enamored with Quinn, so would Cleveland.

Here's hoping (with this Tampa scenario) Clevland takes Russell, and Oakland grabs Peterson with the thought that they then grab Stanton/Edwards/Kolb in the Second leaving Quinn to drop to 5/6 and we then make our move

I don't see that happening, they would miss out on CJ and Russell, the two players they are reported to be targeting the most.
