ESPN's John Clayton reports the Raiders have entered trade talks with the Lions concerning backup quarterback Josh McCown.

McCown has a big arm and is more mobile than Andrew Walter, but isn't regarded as a smart QB that's normally preferred in the West Coast attack coordinator Greg Knapp brought from Atlanta. Of course, Al Davis calls the shots on offense anyways. If they can swing a deal for McCown, look for the Raiders to take an early second- or third-round QB to develop.

Dolfans the Lions have been doing the biggest smoke screen ever making everyone believe they were gonna select Joe Thomas. The Lions will select Quinn or Russell. If the Raiders snag McCown they can still select Russell, and the Lions nab Quinn... Its over Quinn wont get past number 2.

Yeah, I hear that. Not that I ever expected Quinn to fall into Miami's lap at 9.

I have no idea, but it really seems like Detroit will nab Quinn, even Millen is not so stupid to let Quinn go. Martz might have alot to do with it, why would Martz not want Quinn. Martz runs a very similiar offense to Camron only difference they depend on the pass more. Plus Detroit has the veteran that can teach Quinn in Kitna.

They took care of their O-line and their RB position. They are nabbing Quinn and if you dont believe just wait and see. This news has taken any hope I had in us trading up for Quinn. If anythng Mueller should start looking into trading down and snagging more picks.

I really doubt that if this deal goes through it will have a whole lot of bearing on the draft. I don't think anyone would significantly alter their draft plans based on acquiring or trading Josh McCown. If the Raiders truly want Russell he'll be their man. If the Lions truly want Quinn, he'll be their man regardless of what happens with McCown.

It says if the Raiders get McCown they would select a QB later to develop, which means they wouldn't be taking Russell

SmokeScreen ?

Why would detroit need to use a smokescreen? they own the 2nd pick have their choice of any player minus one...so I dont get why people think they are using a smokescreen.

If they want Quinn he's there if they want someone else they can have him.

The fact is I have always felt the team to worry most drafting Quinn is detroit, if he clears them I feel he can be a phin with a trade up to #6.

worst reason to discount the possibilty of us getting quinn that i've ever heard

You seriously think that they took care of their O-line? They have many needs and LT is still one of them.
Whatever QB has the career misfortune of being drafted by the Lions has my deepest sympathy.

They have Jeff Backus, the guy was injured all last season and was one of the reason their line was so bad. Apperantly he was real good for them a year or two ago and they signed him long term. Foster will lockup the right tackle spot. If im not mistaken they signed Mulitato and Piller, while both guys are old they are proven Vets and will help the line. It also helps when Woody comes back a lot lighter then you expected and show signs of desire to start. I think Detroit has done their best to fix their line and it is starting to look more and more like they will draft Quinn.

This will have nobarring on the draft IMO

So if Oaklanded traded for Cleo Lemon who has a big rm and is mobile does that mean the Raiders wouldn't take Russell or Quinn? Trading for a guy like that wouldn't sway you if you were considering drafting a Franchise QB.

I never thought the Raiders would be taking a QB anyway.

The Lions won't be taking a QB either IMO.

Im going out on limb and say if this trade happens between the raiders and lions Russell will not go number one raiders will go with Calvin Johnson. Al Davis is a throw the ball down the field man, if he has Porter, Moss and Johnson with McCown who has the arm to go deep, then Russell may drop in the draft not Quinn. IMO Quinn will be gone to the Lions either way.

What really makes no sense (and this has no effect on the dolphins ) is that Al Davis would bring in a coach with a west coast offense, yet it's true!
QUINN is not going to Detroit, relax.

Detroit will manage to crush another young talent if they draft Quinn. I mourn for the NFL's loss
