New offensive coordinator Greg Knapp is expected to install a zone-blocking scheme in Oakland.
Darren McFadden never flourished under former coach Tom Cable's zone-blocking scheme, only emerging once Hue Jackson molded the offense to his strengths. ESPN's John Clayton suggests the Raiders will have to decide whether to re-sign free agent Michael Bush or trade McFadden this offseason. Knapp has been a decidedly run-heavy play-caller, though it's odd that the Raiders are now installing an offense that won't cater to the skills of its most dynamic player. Beat writer Steve Corkran suggested last week that McFadden could be dangled as a trade chip for new GM Reggie McKenzie.

although a pipe dream , can you imagine manning, marshall, and mcfadden?

They'd only trade him because of his perpensity to get hurt. If he stay'd healthy there would be NO way they'd ever let him fly the coop. I'd rather have Miachael Bush, imagine him and Reggie!

You mean Manning, Marshall, Mcfadden and Bush! Shoot he deserves credit after the way he ran after that bye week!

he wouldnt get overworked with a proper qb and offense.

id give up a 4th for him.

extremely talented, but never healthy, and running backs dont have long life spans in terms of nfl play.

but id deff take a chance on him as long as its not too much they are asking for.

imagine bush and dmac in the backfield? scary. bush would also be able to line up as wr plenty.

Im tired of watching players stand on the sideline. We need players who can get on the field. No more injury prone players!

Give a 3rd or 4th for him, I would take a chance on McFadden, if he gets hurt, we still have Bush and Thomas.

Payton and D-Mac would be right next to each other on the bench hurt.

Meh
He has always been surrounded by good RB's in Oakland.

He has never shown he could take hits. In College, the entire scheme was to get him 1 on 1 in open space. He carries most of his weight above the waist, and although he does have talent, he will never last.
The longer he stays as the feature back in Oakland, the longer they stay mediocre.

Theres no Denying Dmac's a TALENTED RB but theres no denying he cant play a full season...Oh wait, didnt Bush have the same issues? Very tempting to do im sure no less then a 2nd round pick will get him so no thanks.

Totally different types of players.

McFadden SHOULD be able to handle contact, cept, as I already mentioned, he is built from the waist up.
He's too big and not shifty enough to run outside. He got away with it in College, but not the pro's.
