Raiders | Walter not out of the picture
Fri, 23 Feb 2007 07:44:35 -0800
Jerry McDonald, of MediaNews, reports <A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/28/nfl">Oakland Raiders head coach Lane Kiffin has not ruled out the possibility of QB Andrew Walter starting for the team in 2007. Walter is currently the only experienced quarterback on the team's roster with the departure of QB Aaron Brooks and QB Marques Tuiasosopo about to become an unrestricted free agent. "Obviously there are some other things that we have to look into, with the draft coming up and free agency...but we're very excited about Andrew and we think he's going to be a very good quarterback," Kiffin said. "We don't need to figure out a starting quarterback today. Obviously, there's a lot of tools there that excite us about him, and he'll get a shot."

Depending on the combine, I think the Raiders will draft Calvin Johnson IMO.

He's probably just playing nice for now, given he is the only QB on the team. And he's still young, so it's not out of the rhelm of possibility that Walter could develop into a good QB.

But they aren't going to pass on Russell, or Quinn for that matter should he blow everyone away at the combine!! I'd be floored if it's not Russell quite frankly!! But .... they are the Raiders and they did pass on two possibly great QBs last year, both of whom had solid rookie years :confused:

I think Raiders trade Moss(maybe for Schaub? who really knows), but that frees them up to pick CJ at number 1.

Huff was a really good player too in his own right.

Russel will be their selection with the number one overall pick, no doubt in my mind...they were very interested in culpepper before we traded for him and now they have a chance to draft a guy who is practically the reincarnation of daunte

i think its rellay hard to coment until after the draft, i mean who knows Staton could be this years Jay Cutler

Who was it that plays for the Raiders who just changed their number from 84 to I think it was 81? Kind of odd don't you think?

i hope walter does get the startin job, i think he has alot of potentiel

Andrew Walter played in the PAC-10 right? I wonder if Kiffin had any connections with him in the past.

Andrew Walter played for the ASU Sun Devils...best QB they have had since Jake Plummer, but he just seems to be a little slow. I don't know if the Raiders will draft a QB in the first round,...Al Davis loves receivers so they might go with CJ, but I could see them going with QB JaMarcus Russell.
