ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Rams have already had preliminary talks with "multiple teams" about trading up to No. 2 overall.

The Rams are willing to deal the pick for "the right package," of course. Vikings GM Rick Spielman is practically begging teams to trade up to the No. 3 spot, but he has no leverage with the Rams already holding an RGIII auction for the Browns, Redskins, Dolphins, and Seahawks. Schefter expects trade talks to "accelerate" once the free agent market plays out at quarterback. Feb 23 - 3:40 PM

I'd give up a (swap of 1sts) 2nd, 4th and 7th and a 1st Rounder next year for the rights for RGIII. Make it happen.

Browns have the most ammunition with two 1st rounders. They'd be screwing themselves but if they think RGIII can carry a franchise with 40+ drops from it receivers and no running back more power to them.

I think it's going to be funny when nobody trades up and RG3 just falls to the Browns straight up.

Exactly what I was thinking. The only real team in play would be Cleveland I think. I doubt St. Louis wants to drop out of range of Blackmon, which only leaves Cleveland. I imagine Minnesota is in the same boat as far as the need for a tackle. Holmgren is smart enough to stay pat and straight take him at 5...

Why don't people think RGIII is legit?

i actually think the browns would be better off keeping there picks and taking Trent Richardson and the WR from Baylor, I really dont see teams trading up to # 2, i see teams trading up to the #4 for RG3 and the browns moving back to add more pieces.

I just think that when all is said and done, there are the following starting QBs available:

1. Andrew Luck
2. Brandon Weeden
3. Matt Flynn
4. Ryan Tannehill
5. Robert Griffin
6. Peyton Manning (maybe)

And then there are the following teams that need a QB:

1. Indianapolis
2. Cleveland
3. Washington
4. Miami
5. Seattle
6. Arizona (maybe)

It's kismet. In free agency IF Peyton Manning goes anywhere then he's going to knock one of those teams off the board, probably Washington like I said if he goes anywhere. Matt Flynn will knock another one off the board, probably Miami. Andrew Luck has essentially already knocked the Colts off the board. So you have who, Seattle and Cleveland competing to trade up for Robert Griffin? Really? Seattle's going to sell its right and left testicles, the first born of each executive, and empty everyones' savings to move all the way up from #12 overall to #2 overall? Yeah I'm gonna say doubtful to that one.

St. Louis' best hope is that Peyton retires and doesn't go to Washington, in which case there could be a bidding war between Cleveland and Washington for Robert Griffin...and even that I'm pegging at low odds.

The only wildcard would be if the Rams can somehow convince the Browns they're taking Griffin at #2 and keeping both he and Bradford. That doesn't seem like a credible threat but if the Rams take the bluffing one step further by turning in the card...then all hell could break loose.

That would be entertaining, but not a smart move for St. Louis. Unless Cleveland ends up with Kalil or Blackmon, then St. Louis is missing out on a position they need help with badly. I suppose they have enough holes that any top 10 talent would improve the team, but they desperately need to build some talent around Bradford. You're absolutely right, short of a mystery team coming forward, Griffin looks primed to fall to 5...

I would think Cleveland would almost surely end up with Blackmon if they pushed the game further. But would that be the guy St. Louis would have taken at #2?

It's not about being legit, it's about supply/demand and the needs of the teams in position to take him. St. Louis covets Blackmon, that rumor is all over the place. They will not want to trade out of his draftable range, which is probably 5. They'll bluff and negotiate with other teams to drive up the price, but they are most likely only interested in trading with Cleveland. Minnesota may not be as static in their range, but they need OL help bad and I know they'd like to be able to grab Kalil. Ponder was tossed around like a rag doll and they need to protect their franchise QB. Kalil's range is absolutely top 5, he won't slip past that.

If Cleveland knows they are the only ones in play, why would they trade up? Sounds smarter to sit and let him fall to you, get your franchise QB, and have the rest of your picks in pocket afterwards.

As for us, we know Ireland doesn't like small players. Especially after the Pat White fiasco, it makes it seem unlikely that we'd be willing to give up the ransom needed to trade up for him. That could change if we don't land Flynn though...
