Rams already taking offers for #2 Pick

I would think Cleveland would almost surely end up with Blackmon if they pushed the game further. But would that be the guy St. Louis would have taken at #2?

Probably, but definitely not a lock. Things change with FA obviously, and if Fisher lands a Vincent Jackson or someone else, then OT I would assume jumps to the top of the list. With Minnesota shopping their pick, as well as being rumored to be looking at Kalil, that makes it even less likely that St. Louis would be willing to drop too far. Of course, they could be willing to look at Reiff or Adams. It's tough to say this early. I think the draft will make much more sense after the first few weeks of free agency...

I just think that when all is said and done, there are the following starting QBs available:

1. Andrew Luck
2. Brandon Weeden
3. Matt Flynn
4. Ryan Tannehill
5. Robert Griffin
6. Peyton Manning (maybe)

And then there are the following teams that need a QB:

1. Indianapolis
2. Cleveland
3. Washington
4. Miami
5. Seattle
6. Arizona (maybe)

It's kismet. In free agency IF Peyton Manning goes anywhere then he's going to knock one of those teams off the board, probably Washington like I said if he goes anywhere. Matt Flynn will knock another one off the board, probably Miami. Andrew Luck has essentially already knocked the Colts off the board. So you have who, Seattle and Cleveland competing to trade up for Robert Griffin? Really? Seattle's going to sell its right and left testicles, the first born of each executive, and empty everyones' savings to move all the way up from #12 overall to #2 overall? Yeah I'm gonna say doubtful to that one.

St. Louis' best hope is that Peyton retires and doesn't go to Washington, in which case there could be a bidding war between Cleveland and Washington for Robert Griffin...and even that I'm pegging at low odds.

What if the Browns end up snagging Flynn? That changes everything.

Then the only real competition for RGII (if Manning retires), is DC. If Flynn goes to Cleveland, they will likely be in play for Blackmon. In this scenario, if the Rams really covet Blackmon, they will just stay at #2 and take Blackmon. Then, the Vikings become the trade partner. It will be much easier to outbid the Skins for the #3 pick.

Don't trust Minnesota either. Think about it RG3 or Ponder who would you choose? Which will also scare the browns if there interested in RG3.

Anybody that is against giving up say two first rounders for a possibility of landing a star at the most important position in football is crazy. Come on guys, first round picks are a crap shoot as it it and aren't you tired of being one of the few teams that hasn't had a franchise qb in years!? Suck it up and give up whats necessary to get our qb now!!,

The only wildcard would be if the Rams can somehow convince the Browns they're taking Griffin at #2 and keeping both he and Bradford. That doesn't seem like a credible threat but if the Rams take the bluffing one step further by turning in the card...then all hell could break loose.

The Browns could also be worried about Washington trading Minn. and taking RG3 with the third pick.

That's a big gamble. There is no assurance this guy is a franchise QB.

Miami should trade down and get some extra picks. Then draft Weeden either late first round or with their 2nd pick.

You trust the process , do your due diligence and go for it . No assurance that Luck is a franchise Qb either, but watch how long it takes the Colts to turn their card in.

The diffence is the Colts don't have to trade up to get Luck. I would have no problem picking RG3 if we were sitting at #2.

I doubt teams are making offers to move up to #2 before the combine and pro days even take place. All of the draft jockeying wont start until the weekd leading up to the draft. Schefter seems to be getting a lot of bad (or intentionally misleading) info lately.

Bingo. The Rams are putting it out there that there is demand for their pick. They are trying to get teams interested in RG3 to panic and to jump into an imaginary bidding war...

Dude, a franchise QB stabilizes a team for DECADES. How many draft picks even stick around more than 5 years? If you go back to some of our drafts in the past decade, you will see that we would have been better off trading the whole draft to go up for a QB.

For Example, 2004.

There were 3 bonafide franchise QBs in the draft.
Big Ben, Eli and Rivers. Today, all of these guys have a chance of being in the HOF someday.

We had the 19th pick that year. Big Ben was taken 11th.

How did we pick that year?

1 19(19) Vernon Carey OT Miami (FL)
4 6(102) Will Poole CB Southern Cal
5 28(160) Tony Bua S Arkansas
6 9(174) Rex Hadnot C Houston
7 20(221) Tony Pape OT Michigan
7 21(222) Derrick Pope OLB Alabama

(I think we gave up a 3rd rounder to move up for Carey, if I remember correctly)

You are telling me you wouldn't have given up this crappy draft for Big Ben, Eli or Rivers?

Heck, even if we would have thrown in the 2005 1st rounder, we only would have missed out on Ronnie Brown.

We would have been MUCH better off in the long run if we had traded our entire 2004 draft and the 2005 1st rounder for Eli Manning, Philip Rivers or Ben Roethlisberger. There is NO DISPUTE!
