sorry Minn is not a threat to the qb pool. you don't just give up on 1st round QBs after one season, esp when they show promise, unless you're the jags, I could honestly see them giving up on that ******* down there. He was dreadful.
 
To convince STL to trade w/ us and move all the way down to #8 rather than 4 or 6, we need to sweeten the deal. offer our 1st and a 2nd and Jake Long. Rams need a tackle badly, we're giving them a young cornerstone who's arguably the best. not only are you saving money by choosing the cheaper RG3 over Flynn or Manning but you're also clearing 12 mil in cap space by trading Long. that gives you like almost 30 mil in cap space to spend in free agency and thats before cutting or restructuring any players which will free up even more.

now you have money to get 25 year old Jared Gaither, you play him at LT and Murtha at RT or vice versa. you can also get a good guard like Ben Grubbs or take one in the 3rd round or play Garner at RG. and if Mario Williams or Avril escape the franchise tag you have enough money to go after them, or go the cheaper route and get Ahmad Brooks from San Francisco. you can sign a Mario Manningham, who wont be that expensive, he's definitely an upgrade over Hartline and Bess. you can sign a play-making safety like Goldson or Reggie Nelson. heck we'll even have enough money left over to sign Soliai long term.

I love Jake Long but a stud LT isn't worth much to a franchise if the guy he's protecting isn't good enough. offering him along with picks to StL would be very intriguing to Jeff Fisher and financially it makes a ton of sense for us.

Probably has something to with the fact that he blows.

That conclusion is reached based upon him playing in the Big 12 where defense is played about as often as Whitney Houston was sober, running a gimmick offense that is nothing like what is typically ran in the NFL, almost never taking snaps from under center, being extremely small for an NFL QB, and having very poor accuracy on the types of throws most often associated with NFL passing attacks.
 
you make an excellent point. I think the funniest thing about this whole situation is the people that say its too risky to trade picks for RG3 because he's not a sure thing dont realize how contradictory they sound. NO DRAFT PICK is ever a sure thing. and that includes the draft picks we'd be keeping if we dont trade up for RG3. the two 1st's and two 2nd's that you guys feel are too valuable to give up aren't guaranteed to fill our other needs. they could end up being 3 busts and 1 average player. or 2 busts and 2 average players. especially when you consider the GM that we have lol.

we all thought we filled our need of pass rusher when we took Misi. we thought we filled our need of speed WR when we took Gates. we thought we filled our need of guard with Jerry...and etc etc etc.

I don't get this "extremely small" argument. He is the same height as Rodgers and taller than Brees! He has a slight frame, but will assuredly bulk up once he gets into an NFL weight training program. All of his problems are correctable.

I knew Vince Young and JaMarcus Russell would be busts because they lack brains. RGIII has brains in spades!

Quite frankly, I can't recall a QB BUST who had exceptional smarts, high character, a good work ethic and all the physical tools you would want. RGIII has all of this.

As such, I almost don't even consider his college performances that much in the equation. I see his skill sets, his intelligence, his physical tools and leadership abilities, and I see a guy who has as good a chance as anyone to be a big-time success in the NFL.

The problems I see with RG3 reflect his game. He has the issue of moving out of the pocket horizontally when there is no need to do so. He doesn't maximize his height and there are plenty of people that will be surprised if he does measure at 6'2".

We can't act like RG3 is flawless cause there are little things that he has issues with that can easily affect him at the next level including his timing and of course the ability to drop back from center.

Can he fix it? Of course. Do you sell the entire draft for him? No.
 
Don't get desperate, kemosabes. There will be QBs next year. Build a foundation.

I'm not saying he is perfect, but with the characteristics he has, he is much more likely to be successful than to be a failure.

Don't get me wrong, I like the kid as a person. I just think everyone looks at Robert Griffin III the person and overlooks Robert Griffin III the player. The guy destroyed horrible pass defenses, which doesn't help because they ARE horrible. He leaves the pocket when he doesn't need to. I still saw him drop the ball towards his hip too many times for my liking. His footwork while passing could use some work. He'll need to adapt to taking the ball from under center.

These are things that he CAN work on, of course.

My main concern with him? "NFL is Plan B"

Don't agree. New cba new rules. Who knows what will happen. Hell the rams could get wise. Not saying they will but it's definitely possible.
 
RGIII has barley scratched the surface of what he can do.

I'd trade up for this kid in a second.
