"Rams Denied Access to Baggett ...
2006-01-20
[KFFL] Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports the St. Louis Rams were reportedly denied permission by the Dolphins to speak with assistant head coach-wide receivers coach Charlie Baggett.

Baggett was considered a strong candidate to join new Rams head coach and former Dolphins offensive coordinator Scott Linehan in St. Louis, possibly as offensive coordinator."

I am shocked by this. If we are willing to let them have Linehan, why are we screwing Baggett?

They had no choice in the Linehan situation since he was offered the head coaching job. Saban couldn't stop him from leaving. But since Baggett would be going there as an assitant, Saban can block that move.

This is an old topic, but Baggett and Saban have more of a history than Baggett and Linehan...so why does that surprise you ?? My feeling is that Baggett is a backup up as OC in case either Saban gets impatient to fill the spot or it could also be that Saban is protecting himself for the next year or two when/if Mularkey leaves us ?? That would be consistent with his statements from last year in developing his assistant coaches...
