Where will Culpepper end up?
Well, now that Trent Green is a Dolphin, Daunte Culpepper is being shown the door. The question is: Where will Culpepper land?
Here's a list of teams I could see trading for Culpepper:
1. Jacksonville - Adam Schefter reported that Jacksonville might be interested in acquiring Culpepper. C-Pep might like the idea of staying in FL.
However... Jack Del Rio indicated the team would consider taking a look at Culpepper, but only if he would accept the team's backup quarterback job. Del Rio has said that Leftwich will be the Jaguars' starting quarterback this season.
2. St. Louis - Adam Schefter also reported that the Rams are interested. Scott Linehan is a fan. How funny would it be if Culpepper beat out Gus Frerotte for the backup job?
3. New England - Schefter also reported that the Patsies are interested. Son of a *****!!! I could see Belichick doing this just to mess with us.
4. Detroit - And Schefter says the Lions are interested. Although I'm surprised. I thought they were happy with Kitna. And they drafted Drew Stanton to be their QB of the future.
Teams Schefter didn't mention:
5. Buffalo - Culpepper would have a good shot at outright beating J.P. Losman or Craig Nall for the starting job. Also, he would get two grudge matches a year against the Fins.
6. Baltimore - Steve McNair is old. Culpepper could step in after McNair is done. He would certainly be a better option than Kyle Boller.
7. NY Jets - Kellen Clemens is backing up Chad Pennington. If Culpepper is looking for a chance to start, he would probably get the nod before Clemens if Pennington got injured again.
8. Dallas - If Romo flops his sophomore season, then Dallas would have to look to backup Brad Johnson. Culpepper might be a more attractive security blanket.
9. Washington - Culpepper would have a shot at outright beating Jason Campbell or Mark Brunell for the starting job.
10. Green Bay - If Brett Favre doesn't return, Culpepper would be an interesting option. If Aaron Rodgers falters, the Packers would have C-Pep ready to go. And Culpepper has experience playing in the NFC North division.
