Rams Sign Kendall Langford

As they said on NFL network this am. The term overpaying for FA's has become a cliche'.
You may have thought he was worth 6 million/yr, but most of the league didn't.
As others have stated, as a solid DE, he represents a core type player, but not an impact player. As such, 6 million is overpaying.

As a 3-4 DE, $6 million per year would be way too much to pay.

As a 4-3 DT, $6 million will be a starter's average wage from here on out.

Contract always get bigger, they don't shrink anymore.

I think he got a fair deal, he'll be utilized a lot more in St. Louis than he was here.

Very surprised that he went to a 4-3 team. Guess Fisher didn't want to coach our team but he does want our players. Good luck to him.

Losing Langford was stupid and typical of the losers running Miami

We haven't paid him jack since drafting him. We know he's a starter and can play at the NFL level.

What I think he is worth is irrelevant in my eyes, he did his job here in Miami and did it under a rookie contract with 3rd round wages for 4 years. Started every game. In a free agency period where alot of people got "overpaid", Langford is more than deserving of this payday and he is gonna come to work every day for the Rams and give them a solid addition up front to an already young and solid defensive front they are working on.

Good signing for them.

DL is already a loaded position in Miami.

We have $4 million tied up in McDaniel, $5 million tied up in Starks, $6 million tied up in Soliai and we still have Odrick who will need to get his big payday in a couple years.

It would have been a luxury to have Langford back with us. Basically it came down to Soliai versus Langford, since they cost the same, I'd have to take Soliai in that scenario.

Miami wasn't going to keep Langford and Soliai, it was one or the other. Soliai gives us a little more value with him being a 3-4 NT and when you have 2 real solid DT's in Odrick and Starks already on the team and a quality backup in Mcdaniel . . . can you really justify 6 million a year with other areas on the team that need to be addressed?

I hope he plays his butt off and helps us get a nice compensatory pick next year.

Not likely, especially if we sign Flynn.

there's nothing overpaying given free agency and langfords worth about that contract...it is right in line with the market rate

The thing that I'll miss most about Langford is his Dad playing a mean air bass guitar when I sat closel by him at a few games- real nice guy and his son seemed to be one as well. He's solid, but not an impact player. I'm glad he got his money elsewhere, but we could use the $6mil a year much better elsewhere imo. How many times do you remeber hearing kendall Langford's name in the last few years, making a big play? Chirp chirp...

As to allocation of resources- at least it looks like we're not going to be dumb enough to overpay for Flynn if we get him, thankfully. I'd still much rather draft Brandon Weeden than give a bunch of money to Flynn- anyone who thinks that they know that Flynn is better than Matt Moore is deceiving themselves. And as long as I'm on a roll here, I hope that we end up getting Tim Tebow, for multiple reasons. One of which is that he'll add excitement to what has become a dull, boring, and marginalized franchise. As to the rest of my rationale, I've already been through the Tebow wars, not going there again.

That third round was loaded with blue chip players.

Glad we took the initiative with a 3 - 4 End. Classy guy, hard worker, but not the type of player Miami is in desperate need of (i.e. difference makers).

Unbelieveable how negative :boohoo:this site is. Seems like all Jets fans posting:badmood:.
Either agree with the Doomsdayers or...
Maybe the VIP forum is more upbeat & civil. What's wrong with focusing on the positives and pulling for your team?:idk:
Getting harder to find on this board well thought out posts. Typically just flamers.:domoblow:

Might as well sell the team so they can move to Los Angeles so Miami fans can focus on rooting for Jai Alai.
:rolleyes2:
