I'm sure they won't get rid of Aaron Donald, but I feel using him as 3-4 DE is a waste of his talent to a degree. Any other Rams that might actually be available that we should take a look at. I'm not sure Robert Quinn could move to 3-4 olb and he's too small to be a 3-4 end. Quinn is a good enough athlete that he could likely make the move. However, just like Donald, I'm not sure the move is the best fit for his talent.

Uhhhhhh their new head coach is a 31 year old OC. Im certain their offense will be highly revamped

You had to guess the change was coming when they hired Wade Phillips as defensive coordinator. He wouldn't take the job if he couldn't run his defense.

If im aaron donald im not happy

I think theres some i got paid and now i dont care in robert quinn these days

Wade Philips large and in charge of that unit.....probably talked about it before he agreed to go there..

See if ya can pry lamarcus joyner off them

Thats who id want the most

I will save you the effort and time cause you can't

They could cut Quinn for only a 1.9 million dollar cap hit. Watch for it

In case you haven’t been paying attention to league-wide news over the course of the last month, Wade Phillips has been named the new defensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Rams.

During a Friday media session, Phillips made it known that he plans to switch the Rams from a 4-3 defense to his favored 3-4 scheme. He apparently noted, however, that the switch is just semantics.

“You can call it a 5-2,” Phillips said, according to Greg Beacham of the Associated Press. “It’s an odd-man front, which you can play in a 4-3.”

Phillips went on to explain why he likes to play a 3-4 defense instead of a 4-3.

“This has happened a few times, where I’ll take over a 4-3 and go to a 3-4,” Phillips said, according to Mark Whicker of The Orange County Register. “But the 3-4 is better. You’re normally bringing four pass rushers. In a 4-3, that means all the linemen. In a 3-4, that’s three linemen plus a linebacker, but you don’t know which linebacker is coming. That causes some confusion and gives the defensive backs a better chance. Nowadays it’s all about stopping the passing game.

It's a Wade Phillips 3-4. He did the same thing in Denver, and it didn't require changes in personnel. His D's always emphasize penetration (1-gap). They won't be giving any deals on good players. You never hear of him, but their Safety M. Alexander has developed into one of the better SS's in the NFL. He's not going anywhere, but he deserves more love. Liked him a lot coming out of Utah St.

I wasn't a Goff fan, but his situation went from terrible to pretty good. The Rams offense is more talented than it has looked, and their D should go from pretty good to top-5. A great D takes a lot of pressure off a young QB. It's hard to teach a young QB when and risks are appropriate. As a teaching tool, it seems to be very important for QB's to see the D hold up their end of the bargain. Without that reassurance, we see most young QB's develop poor habits - even Andrew Luck, to some extent. It will be interesting to see what Goff can do with the coaching upgrades.

Aaron Donald in the 3-4 or 5-2 is a waste of his talent. He's a good enough football player that he might make it work, but you're not got going to get the same value as keeeping him in a traditional 4-3.

Ideal 3 tech

He will still make plenty of plays no doubt though in a wade phillips scheme

Quinn should be able to play a 34 wolb although hes got some stiffness in his hips that playing more lateral as a 34 olb should expose instead of more north and south as a 43 de

1 gap or not
