As much as I hate to face it the Dolphins are no longer a factor in the balance of power in the NFL. No longer is it a good laugh to point at franchises that year in and year out break the hearts of their fans, being I have been one of those fans since I can hardly remember.

Jimmy Johnson, Wanny, Saben it doesn't matter. Excuses excuses excuses. It's a big boy world and big money business and all that is certain is as of 10-2-06 their has been underachieving stacked on bad leadership from the very top that ended up with the Fins now looking like the worst team in the NFL.

I'm not wanting to bash Saben but with free agency I would think that after two off seasons this team should of improved and not digressed.

I want to love the fact that Ronnie Brown grasped the opportunity to be the Dolphins #1 guy, but he has yet to take over a game which I believe isn't to much to ask of a second overall pick who has been given the keys to the franchise.

Culpepper has played error free football but given the lack of talent around him that is proven to not be enough and it has exposed the holes in the Dolphins as a team on offense and defense.

I could go on and on about the defense and its knack to blow plays at just the right time, but I wont.

I look across the league and time and time again wonder why the Miami Dolphins Franchise isn't capable of creating it's own breaks.

Why don't the Dolphins have that 6th (7th, 8th, etc...)round player that has proven to be one of the leagues best? Why is it the Dolphins defensive 'schemes" aren't the talk of the NFL. Or an offense so innovative even in defeat I can say "damn fun game to watch!†Why is it just so bland and disappointing?

I do look forward to this weekend despite the fact I will have to drive fours hours just to watch the game with my Patriot-fan in-laws. I believe this weekend is this year’s playoff game for the Dolphins, win and there is still hope and lose and call it a year.

Its 12:00 my time October 2nd and the Miami Dolphins are 1-3 against teams that are a combined 4-11, two of those teams only wins are against the Dolphins. Like it or not, face it or deny it it-these are dark, dark days for Dolphin fans everywhere.

You can't expect a running back to take over a game in which he only has 12 carries. Fact is when Ronnie carries the ball 20 times, the Dolphins have yet to lose.

Culpepper playing error free? What games have you been watching. At least half of his 20 plus sacks have been his fault. Over throwing and under throwing wide open receivers when he is not being flushed out of the pocket is his fault. The interceptions are his fault (has he never heard of throwing the ball away?) Locking on to one receiver and not making his reads is his fault.

oh...i thought for sure you would say that you miss Dan Marino...I do.

and yeah...these past 4 sunday's have not been fun at all.

I don't know what 4 games you've watched but Culpepper has made plenty of mistakes. 3 Interceptions and 21 sacks to be exact (granted some are attributed to the offensive line but plenty are a result of Pep holding the ball WAYYYYYYY too long). And his decision making has been horrendous! He stares down his receive making it obvious to the defense where he's throwing. IMO Pep has set the tone for this team and must be replaced by Harrington asap. If for nothing else to provide a spark.

Indeed. The O-line can't be faulted completely for Culpepper's mistakes. Receivers are open time and again and he misses or doesn't see them. He has no mobility either. I can't for the life of me figure out how Saban didn't know/see/think that this might be an issue.

At the end of the day, some terrible personnel decisions have been made (e.g., Brees) and the offensive play-calling is horrendous. I'm afraid there's something terribly wrong behind the scenes.

You can't pin all the sacks on Culpepper. I'd attribute a few, but he is clearly not the biggest problem with his team. Culpepper is better than Brees also.

These are dark days for Dolphin fans everywhere. I don't know where to put the blame? Are they using Culpepper in the shot gun because he can't back peddle fast enough? Why isn't he throwing the ball to Chambers or McMichael? Why didn't they just run twice on 2nd and goal down 17-6 instead of pass then kick a FG? Why didn't Ronnie throw the ball to a wide open McMichael on that trick play? Why was that paly even called? In order of fault, I'd say QB, OL, Coaching, WR, Secondary. Culpepper has failed to put points on the board and his OL isn't helping. Playcalling suspect...Are receivers really not getting open? Secondary makes me nervous on every pass downfield.

A few? A few? Are you serious? I counted "a few" yesterday alone where he was sacked with 4 to 5 seconds to throw and repeatedly hesitated to commit to a throw only to be sacked/rushed/hit.

I'm starting to think that Daunte is holding onto the ball on purpose to not lower his career completion percentage.

Zach Thomas is regarded as one of the league's best and he was a 5th rounder.

I'm not by any means a Culpepper apoligist and if you check my message history you can confirm that. I have been and still am a believer the Dolphins should (or more accuratly already should of already) draft a QB and build around him.

However there is alot of nit picking with about Culpeppers performance. Even in last years 6 game win streak we didnt see the Dolphins QB's go two consecutive games without turning the ball over, I think they only went two games out of those six with no turnovers from the QB. Although I'm not going to bother collecting and tossing stats out I'm willing to bet Culpeppers rating and percentages in the last couple of games is as good of if not better than any two games in that streak. Culpepper might not be playing at a pro bowl level but he is playing well enough for the team to easily be 2-2 or even 3-1. I would like to know how many games in the last 10 years or so have our QB's had no turnovers.

You people need to watch some games besides the Dolphins. Other QB's hold the ball too but are given that extra 1-3 seconds by their line to do so. No QB in the league delivers every pass in 3-4 seconds. Yeah Culpepper needs to get rid of it but don't hang it all on him.

And I'll take throws at the feet and over the heads of recievers any day over throws into the arms of the defense. Regardless, his completion percentage is good. And don't give me "he's dinking and dunking" because thats all the time he has because of the line.

BTW: I realize Zack Thomas is a later round guy but I doubt at this point he is considered what he was 4-5 years ago. I'm refering to a future guy.

It is a tough time to be a Dolphins fan right now. These times when you remember the glory years and keep faith that it can and will happen again!

Of the points above I too ponder the question about late round draft picks making a splash with this team. Other teams are able to wiggle talent out of late round picks over the years but, its been a while for us. What is it; bad luck or lack of adequate player evaluation and development?

We will never see it because Saban loves his proven veterans and doesn't prefer starting his rookies unless he is forced to.
