Firstly, the coaching stinks. You recover the onside kick and BURN a timeout with 1:50 left in the game on 4th down. A well coached team hurries up to the line and PLAYS WITH A SENSE OF URGENCY, knowing full well that OUR only chance was a quick TD, a regular kickoff to Jacksonville with 3 timeouts left in the hopes that we get the ball back with around 1:30 left on the clock.. Instead we take a timeout ensuring a loss even if we did score, since Jacksonville could run off an additional 40 seconds off the clock to give us the ball with around 35 seconds.. Not going to happen.
Compare it to the sense of urgency to end the first half, we run the ball twice, get the first then need to rush to the line instead of calling a timeout to calm the team down.. Boom Joey throws an INT and our fate is sealed. Bonehead playcalling.

Now I've been on the Joey bandwagon but what I saw today was a QB with feet that were dancing in fear, a guy that looked a lot like CPEP did to start the year. He held on to the ball to damn long and those sacks killed any chance at a comeback. Big turkey for Joey today, he held on to the ball way to long and did not look confident.

So long 2006 season, this truly was one of the crappiest years ever to be a Dolphin fan.. 1-6 is not an acceptable way to start the season, especially when you lose to the likes of Green Bay, Buffalo, Pittsburgh and Houston, 4 teams with no playoff aspirations. PATHETIC

I don't know if you were at the game, but you could see that the offense looked confused going into that 4th down play. That play is basically the game, so you want to get your team to regroup, and make sure they are all on the same page by calling a time out. You just dont hurry your last possible play to score in the game, because you want to save a time out for your next possession - which is a BIG IF!!!

the start was the killer, and QB is the thing that is causing it, when you change every year it hurt your consistency alot, we have had four starters the last four years, you almost just want to continue to work harrington into the role he does have upside

I was not at the game, but common sense and the clock would indicate to me that they HAD to reserve those three timeouts to have any chance.. Again, the team needs to play with a sense of urgency, what if there were no timeouts left and it was 4th down??? They should be prepared for these situations.

I think the end of the game was the least of our worries. We lost the game in a two minute time period in the 2nd quarter when the Jags scored 14 points on us. Can't blame the coaches for Joey's INT's.

the game was over by then, not getting at least three points in the second quarter and mare miss kept us from being within one score of tying the game

you have to put the QB in a safer position with your play calling

I hope they announce the offensive starters against next week:

Joey sucks..
Joey sucks..
Joey sucks..
Joey sucks..
Joey sucks..
Joey sucks..

Hey, thanks for playing so well against the 2-10 Detroit Lions!

No way in hell the game was over then.. Jesus, they still had a great chance to at least tie the game.. Cmon, first and goal at the 9 with 2:30 left in the game and 3 timeouts left and the game is over?? Hell no it wasn't!! We score a quick TD and we have 3 timeouts to stop Jacksonville to get the ball back. I'm sorry but the game was not over until they missed that 4th down play.

That was a big bright spot for the season. I'm really happy for Joey that he got to stick it to his old team at least.

i wonder if saban is thinking of taking the alabama job because he doesnt seem as if he enjoys the nfl i think he could be gone after the season but this is just a hunch thats all.

Yup, I was actually happy for him too.

But, reality is back in session.. time to hold the clipboard, where he belongs.

Damn man, you do know things happen quickly when you are trying to play in a no huddle offense. I think the offense saw a defense that they didn't really expect and freaked. The best thing to do is call a timeout. I'm sorry, but that is just common sense. I understand that you think that a team should be 100% prepared for 100% of the situations thrown at them, but that is quite unrealistic. Either way, it doesn't matter anymore, so why even dwell on it. One last note though, you can blame the offense, just as much as the unpreparedness from the coaching staff for that timeout, because they called it!

To me it is a lot more than those individual instances.. Taken as a whole, these type of events are what separate 5-7 teams from 9-3 teams.... It is all about execution and being prepared for those moments, how many times have you seen a Tom Brady led team hit that big 4th down play a second after rushing to the line? Is it all on the QB or does the killer attitude and preparedness come from the coaching staff?

I was watching NE play last week against Chicago, and their hurry up offense was a thing of beauty.. I mean the offensive line was waiting for Brady literally 5 seconds after the whistle blew.. He got up to the line and the snapped the ball within 12 seconds of the last play.. Then I'm stuck watching this team take 30 seconds off the clock in their "hurry" up offense and throw 2 yard screens when our season is on the line...
