who the heck are we gonna have return kicks all year? plz not patrick cobbs because all he has proven is that he will never go past the 30 and usually gets stopped at the 20.... it would be nice to have an actual threat back there returning kicks...

for punt returns Bess is pretty decent but really we shouldn't be risking injury to him like that because of his value as a receiver... we need someone to replace him as well...

anyone have any ideas what we are going to do? also remember when cam cameron had R.Brown returning kicks rofl that was probably the stupidest football decision ive ever seen made in the NFL... risk your best running back on kick returns?!?!?

Honestly if we ever do make a trade for a star receiver to replace Ginn I would like to see Ginn as full time Kick/Punt returner..he could be a special teams star who plays some regular snaps a'la hester... he's the only player on our team who scares anyone returning kicks, and has already proven he can take it to the endzone.. as of right now though we need him worse as a receiver and can't risk it.

Using your #2 receiver as KR/PR makes more sense than your #1, but for PR I'm not sure he has the jukes to make the first few guys miss.

Cobbs had shown flashes last season when we used him on KR (especially KC game). This season he just looks slow. Part of the problem might be the blocking though - he usually is met by the first coverage guys well before the 20.

Simple fact is, we need to block way better. The whole team, including the kicker, and the other teams head coach is at the returner by the twenty yard line.

true the blocking has been bad I just hate how slow cobbs has looked , he looks like the max return he'll ever get even with good blocking would be to like the 45

I don't think it'll make a difference who we put back there to make returns (I personally don't think Ginn should be returning kick returns). I think the major problem is with our Special Teams overall, not Cobbs or Bess who I feel should be returning kicks. We just need to improve our ST, I don't know it's coaching, the players, or both. Sparano said after Week 2 changes would be made, didn't see any improvements Week 3. Whether or not Ginn is a #1 receiver is irrelevant, he's OUR #1 receiver for the time being. Why risk injury (when there was clearly no difference when he was returning kicks because it's not the return's fault), when he should focus solely on playing WR and running routes, CATCHING the ball, and making the CLUTCH plays.

Cobbs does not follow blockers on kicks.. he seems to run in front of them.
I am all for a change at kickoff also why was camrillo being his closest block man on the kickoffs??

The simple fact is that Cobbs is by no means an electric kick returner. He's smart and tough, though. He always makes the catch and he runs straight up the field instead of dancing around. He probably won't ever average more than 23-24 yards/return, but at least he doesn't make mistakes.

but wouldn't you rather have a guy that only averages 18-20 yds a return but scores 2-3 TD's over the year? Cobbs is no TD threat which is what I thought was most important on kickoffs.... I'd rather have the extra touchdowns (which usually end up winning you the game if you get a Special teams TD) than an extra 3-4 yards field position for the offense.... Really our best returner by far is Ginn who in his rookie season never muffed one kick and scored 3 or 4 touchdowns on kicks (top 3 in the league if not for 2 of them getting called back by charlie anderson holds nowhere near the play)

though right now with our current WRs we can't risk ginn returning kicks.. I really hope we make a move sometime soon and put someone back there who is at least a THREAT to take it all the way once in a while.. can't stand cobbs anymore..

and as for punts Bess seems to be an excellent punt returner but i absolutely hate to see him returning them because if he got injured on a punt return it would hurt our wide receiver group so much... sparano needs to make a move at both PR and KR.
