Practice Squad
I have been busy with work and 2 kids and haven't been able to be online alot. I want to shre some thoughts and observations and see what you guys think. I apologize if anything is repeated.
1) I like the Joey move. We got him for a reason. He looked decent in preseason and deserves a chance. It was obvious everyone and their mother was gameplanning for dauntes immobility and he wasn't improving. That's not a knock on Daunte; if he was a pocket passer he would be fine, but he needs to have explosion and lateral movement. Unfortunately our OC cannot adjust the gameplan appropriately to benefit him and hide his weaknesses. Joey looked good and although we lost this week, I actually enjoyed watching our offense and it seemed we had some life.
2) Our defense has been somewhat dissappointing. Much of it falls on the offenses shoulders and having them on the field so much; but remember when we would shut people out or hold them to under 10 points? Again I think alot of that is linked to the fact that boring Wanny ball revolved around alot of running and clock time. Still, these guys still are making costly mistakes at the worst time. Does a defense really have to be that complicated? At what point are you outsmarting yourself? Many guys do not stay on the team for more than 3-4 years; if it takes that long to master the defense what good is it?
They did look pretty good this week and I thought the pats just made good plays and were a little assy.
Hopefully they improve.
3) What's up with Mularky? I hear nothing good from Bills fans about him and they seem to hit the nail on the head every time. I'll be the first to admit we are not in on the meeting and do not know evrything; and I was complaining about Linehan at the beginning of last year (but considering some of those calls, who wasn't). But I just think his calls are piss poor, his halftime adjustments are anticlimatic and he doesn't stick with the run enough. I know this subject has been beaten to death; but it just annoys me.
4) How is Welker only a 68 in Madden That Sh** better change.
5) I think Saban is doing fine. He is not a god and he is not perfect; but he is not a spurrier either. He will deliver greatness, give him time. The media will help shape our thoughts about everything, and they don't like him since he isn't nice to them. Screw them. Make your own decisions about him. He is positive on the sidelines, involved in the game and willing to take the blame for things that probably had nothing to do with him (the 2 pt conversion ).
6) Biggest offseason loss.......Scott Linehan. If we still had him, we would be 5-0. The majority of the offense would have 1 year under it, he would be familiar with strengths and weaknesses and he knew Daunte. Can you even imagine what it would be like?
7) Second biggest offseason loss... Ricky. I know some people are sick of hearing about him and don't like him but he could run and produce. I also think someone in the NFL has something against the Phins.. Imean the Ricky Suspension was total BS and he was suspended due to an herbal medicine used for his Ayerveda. Then Sammy Morris was suspended for sudefed. Yet their are admitted potheads and alcoholics playing every week
8) Biggest bust... Mike Mularkey. I think enough has been said about him in other threads.
Thoughts??
