I haven't watched much of him, but Probably a legit shot he falls to us now. Apparently it was Pretty well known he smoked up throughout college though.

"Obviously this is new news -- that I failed the test at the combine -- but the fact that I've smoked in the past isn't a mystery," Gregory said. "I've had conversations with (NFL) coaches. I believe we all have an understanding of why I did it. But I feel like I'm improving. I know I am."

Gregory said he has taken regular drug tests, administered by the new support team around him -- including agent Deryk Gilmore of Priority Sports -- and that his levels continue to decline. (A second source, who was informed of the test results, confirmed that information.)

whats the combine for? its an opportunity for these kids to display their ability to the NFL, to show what they offer as players and people, to prove themselves in trustworthy ways for teams to take value in you and trust you within and for their organization and pay you for it all.

for a kid to go into the Combine and actually fail a test there when you are supposed to be working and displaying your best. wow... what does this speak of on Gregory?

he also has failed tests and had issues in the past as well.

Reading the article he does own up to it and it seems like he told everyone ahead of time. He said he stopped smoking in December, but his THC levels were so high he still popped positive. I didn't know that was possible for it to last that long in your system so I dunno.

I do find it interesting his agent had him tested regularly. I will give Gregory props for being up front About it, sounds very mature when speaking on the issue.

But that wouldn't alleviate My concerns.

so he said the right things after many instances of this issue..... think about all the players that said stuff like this and continued their ways. Josh Gordon example as one!

its the combine... how come you dont hear issues like this often? because most, i guess, just dont put themselves in this position? they really focus on bettering themselves for the NFL and for their future. this definitely hurts Gregory and his opportunities, and it really would effect me drafting him and trusting him for my organization and for its future!!!

This is impossible to look past for me. A ton of college players smoke weed…it happens. But when you show up to a job interview that defines the rest of your life and you can't pass a damn drug test? These people never cease to amaze me. He just cost himself a lot of money

The sad part is once you pass the combine test, your almost in the clear with the NFL, free to smoke up as much as you want basically.

Fail that combine test, now your in the program for life.

He's going to drop way past 14...

Gregory had been projected as a surefire first-round NFL draft pick, but the failed test could change that; one of the NFL’s top pass rushers last season, Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Justin Houston, plummeted to the third round of the 2011 draft after a failed drug test. The 6-foot-5, 238-pounder had signed a shoe and apparel contract with Nike in recent weeks.

Justin Houston hasn't had an issue since...but then you have Josh Gordon who was taken in the 2nd round of the supplemental draft who also had issues with weed, so much so he was dismissed from Baylor and entered the supplemental draft and he's had issues with failed drug tests since he's been in the league. Missed 10 games last year and will probably miss the season this year.

From what I've read today, sounds like Gregory has had issues with smoking weed since high school. He says it got worse while he was at Nebraska. He'll drop way past 14. I'll pass.

Who knows, houston is probably a bad example because now teams will look at him as an example of why a player shouldn't fall that far.

But than you look at a guy like Blackmon, dude said all the right things, and kept himself in the top 10 of the draft. And now look at him, missed a whole season due to drug abuse, and he's like 30-40 lbs overweight right now. Guy doesn't care.

IMO, the #1 thing you have to look at is how much does the player love football. If they don't love the game they'll fall back into there bad habits almost for sure, just like Gordon did.

Guys like Sapp, Houston, football is there passion, those kinds of guys will usually do just fine.

I'd pass on Gregory, to me he's a better version if Dion Jordan and we don't need that right now, but I don't think he makes it out of round 1.

raw

Not really an issue other than just submitting to ridiculous politics.

not really gonna matter...but this guy shouldn't be on miamis board anyways...

Sorry I didn't see that there was a thread about Gregory before I posted mine last night.

You also had Aquib Talib and Mario Manningham fail and lie a few years back. Talib still went round 1 Mario fell to the 3rd. All depends on the circumstances
