I read that he said the Dolphins wouldn't need $25 Million next year. They could accomplish their goals with between $16 - 18 Million. I got the opinion that 16 or 18 would be no big deal to get. As exciting as this year is already....I can't wait for the off-season. It's a great time to be a Dolphins Fan.

:hi5:

I agree, it will be nice to go into an offseason in good cap shape. Hopefully we can make some big moves and improve this team more than it already has.

Just In Case You Missed It

Here's the quote from the Herald:

"General manager Randy Mueller was among several Dolphins executives who spoke with a group of fans who run or participate significantly in Internet sites about the team.

Mueller, who has not been allowed by the team to speak with the press other than to say hello, indicated to the fans that he would like to keep running back Ricky Williams beyond this season if the team can work it out.

In addition, Mueller was asked about a report in The Herald last week about the team possibly creating $25 million in salary-cap space. Mueller indicated that the team would not need that much cap space to have a productive offseason. More likely, he said, the team could accomplish its goals at this point with cap space in the range of $12 million to $16 million."

I agree. I can't wait to see Randy Mueller in action this offseason. He definitely brings an excitement to the personell side of things.

i think muellar is a capable gm and him and saban should be able to string 2gether some strong drafts as well as keep away from mega buck free agents...we should use some money to resign mcmike and sign us a good corner or d-line man and hopefully we can draft or trade for a qb

Can someone help me out, I might be wrong, but mueller was GM for the saints right? I keep hearing how awesome of a GM he is, but its not like the saints are the patriots, or did he do a good job and the saints are just an underachieving team?

I believe he received a Front Office of the Year award in 2001 (maybe it was 2000) for his management prowess and draft decisions.

As article on his firing.

He did a great job. In his first year he replaced over half the roster and and I think most of the starters. The talent level in NO has been in the top half(if not considerably higher) for the last 4 years. It is simply beyond me how Haslet still has a job.:shakeno:

If given free reign to make his own moves, he runs personnel like Madden 2006. Thank God Saban's got his foot on his neck. I don't think he can screw up too much if just limited to salary-cap matters and providing personnel "input" to Saban.

That would be a good thing, IMO

agreed. after that playoff win over indy a few years back where lamar had 40 carries and couldn't walk the next week, i became a big fan of having as many quality backs as possible.

I agree that Randy shouldn't have all of the decision making power, but I think we would be surprised to find out exactly how much of it Saban has relinquished to him currently.
