Rank our coaches since 2001 (Brady and Bellichick)

I agee with Nublar7, winning is how coaches are judged. This is a results orientated business and right now , Wannstaedt had a better winning record.

5 Wannstedt
5 Sparano
5 Philbin
5 Saban
5 Cameron

1,390,532,762,093 Jim Turner.

The only thing Wanny could be first at is bringing our team into the ground. Gave away 2 1st round picks plus a 2ndto get a damn RB(Yes Ricky was good but not worth all of that) so we had no icks eft to build with. Stucked wth Fielder way too long ad sucked on game day. He ws lucky to have the defense that JJ put together for him. Saban was the best HC on that list but his heart just wasn't in it.No telling what Philbin will do but I haven't seen anything that makes me feel he'll be great. Hope I'm totaly wrong.

Ozzy rules!!
ricky was worth it IMO. The moves that doomed us were picking Jamar Fletcher in the first round when we had Madison and Surtain in their primes + Eddie Moore in the early 2nd one year we didn't have a no 1.

I actually thought Saban would have been successful if he stuck it out. His teams started slow but played better as the seasons went on. My list:

Saban
J David Wannyheimer
Sporano
Cameron

Philbin too early to rate

And for some reason the team played well under Bates and Bowles.

Saban was probably the best coach but he didn't stick around long enough and needed a good gm

He fielded winning teams, won a division title, made the playoffs multiple times and won a playoff game. Saban went 9-7 and 6-10 before quitting, no way I consider Saban a better NFL head coach.
They won in spite of himn notthanks to him. He hhad a defense full of probowlers that JJ left in placeffor him. The guy was totally clueless but was lucky to get those players given to him. In the few years he was coach he messed
The whole talent level. Was horrible at drafting too and sucked on game day.

This is a depressing as hell thread.

1. Saban (despise him)
2. Wannstedt (Sucked)
3. Sparano (Also sucked)
4. Philbin (Don't like what I've seen at all)
5. Cameron (That offense when healthy was nifty, everything else though....)

JUST as coaches, completely ignoring personnel moves?

1. Saban

2. Philbin

3-5. Who cares?

1. Wannstedt

2. Sparano

3. Cameron

4. Stadium hot dog vendor

5. Random homeless guy

6. Jonathan Martin.

7. Saban (OK, a good coach but **** him)

Philbin chapter is incomplete, hopefully he moves to the top next year....we'll see...

Hell I would put Philbin with who cares what the hell has he done

It depends. On one hand, I think it was miraculous that this team won 8 games with the OL/RB/LB situation this year and the fact that our best player was hurt for a good chunk of the year. On the other hand, Mike Sherman was really bad at his job and Philbin only ****-canned him because he was forced to do so.

He's still better than Wanny, Cam Cam, or Tony, though.

Don't see him as better than Wannt or Tony at this point. Not sure either of those guys tank the last two games and this is not all on Sherman. We still haven't fired our crappy line coach.
Also he was partly resposnsile for the OL, RB and LB. I wish we had moved on from this guy but you know Ross he never can pull trigger properly, I mean hell they didn't truly fire Ireland
