I am aware we dont make the decision, and that these thread have been around for a while and are getting old, btu please rank these 5, stay open minded, and describe for each why you would or wouldnt want them
Daunte Culpepper
Drew Brees
Chad Pennington
Steve Mcnair
Aaron Brooks
i think these are the 5 most likely guys we will see

Id take them in the exact order listed above. Ill describe why later, but my battery is about to die. Remember, no ones opinion is bad, maybe we can all come to some agreement on what kind of qb wed like to have next year. Also , does anyone think Saban plans to just draft Cutler and keep Frerotte at starter?

1. Duante
2. Brees
3. McNair
4. Brooks
5. Pennington

1. Duante--knee problem persist into next year but clearly the most talented of the group
2. Brees--shoulder issues to an already not very strong arm but a smart player.
3. McNair--Old and injuries have made him miss many, many games the last 2 seasons.
4. Brooks--This guy has all the skills but makes some of the most boneheaded plays ever.
5. Pennington--Too much of an overall risk with 2 surgeries on that bum shoulder. His arm is toast.

Right now, taking injuries into effect.

1) Brees
2)Mcnair
3) Daunte(only because no one knows how long it will be till he plays)
4)Brooks
5) Pennington

1. Daunte- Incredible physical abilities. For a QB a knee injury is easier to come back from than a shoulder injury (hence Breese below this spot). He is familiar with our basic system. And he has a good number of years left. If the fumbling problem (more fumbles than TD passes) can be corrected with coaching Daunte would be an outstanding pick up.
2. Brees- Shoulder injury really scares me but I was a fan of his before he was drafted. Still upset we let him slide past us. He is smart and can make the throws.
3. Brooks- Awesome skills, mediocre brain. If he could be taught to think he might actually be the best, but that is a big if.
4. McNair- Too old and way too injury prone. He couldn't even practice with his team last year. How would he learn a new system and develop a rythm with all new players?
4 1/2. Josh McCown- You didn't list him as an option but I had to put him in. He is young and still learning, although unproven. I wouldn't mind seeing what he could do with some good coaching. I might actually take him before McNair.
5. Pennington- Only if we absolutely had no other choice. Good skills but injuries may (probably will) ruin career.

Brees - A probowl QB that many want to write off because of one injury

Pennington - When he's healthy the jets are good, when he isnt they are bad. We have a solid backup in Gus if he goes down, but even if he does, I would bet that he could win against a few teams that Gus couldn't.

Culpepper - The vikings looked pretty horrible until he got injured, and then they started winning.

Mcnair - After seeing the probowl, at least our QB now can get the ball in his hands before turning it over.

Brooks - Too many bonehead plays.

The guy does fumble too much but had a couple of really good seasons as well. Can't base everything on a Vikings team last year in major turmoil.

What About Bulger?

Brees: Best Bang-for-the-Buck
Bulger: VERY accurate passer & team player. Our receivers would blossom with Bulger passing to them. Could be a relatively bargain pickup on the backside of a Rams-Vikings deal for Culpepper.
Brooks: Because he's cheap and hopefully coachable. A change of scenery can sometimes make all the difference.
McNair: Love his heart; but the rest of his body can't play up to preious levels. Could be a real "Sleeper" pickup if he doesn't want too much $$
McCown: Very Good upside. Could either have a "Brees-like" upswing in his career - or flop completely.
Culpepper: Will have some phenominal games, but lose the big ones. Not great value for $10M/Yr. Especially going to a new team that he won't be able to develop chemistry with the receivers since he won't be able to practice until who knows when.
Ramsey: Is his confidence forever shot from the Spurrier years? Again, a change of scenery could do wonders for his career.

Culpepper
Brees
Brooks
McNair
Pennington (I would rather just draft a QB instead of Pennington)

1.Brees-still a ? whether he can come back. May take too much to get.
2.Daunte-same as above. Id trade Ricky str8 up.
3.Brooks-Ive always liked Brooks. Needs a fresh start somewhere with the right coaches in place.
4.McNair-too injury prone for the money he wants.
5.Chad-same as above.
sidenote; If we are including Bulger, Id put him at #1. I think he'd be great with Chambers. Accurate arm and good decision/playmaker.
