Active Roster
If I was a head coaching candidate, here's how I'd slot the jobs currently and soon-to-be available.
----
1. Giants (if Coughlin is fired or retires): Biggest media market, stable and respected ownership, Eli Manning, winnable division.
2. Indianapolis (if Pagano is fired): Owner is an addict but you get Andrew Luck and a very winnable division.
3. Tennessee: Marcus Mariota plus the #1 pick in May's draft.
4. Philadelphia: Roster was largely gutted by Chip Kelly but there's still some talent, winnable division.
5. Miami: Roster thin and deeply flawed but some young talent, quarterback doesn't inspire confidence, owner is a moron but willing to spend, front office dysfunction might be clarifying, no cap space now but can easily clear $40-50 million, same division as New England and ascendant Jets.
6. San Francisco: Poor ownership, no quarterback, same division as Seattle and Arizona, tons of cap space.
7. New Orleans: Ownership instability, depleted roster, salary cap hell, Drew Brees nearing end.
8. Cleveland: Terrible ownership, no quarterback, modest cap space.
