I have sat back the last couple weeks and not posted because i wanted to give it 3 weeks. I am extremely dissapointed with the team right now and I think we need major improvements if we expect to make the playoffs.

5) TE - Randy is non-existent out their and when he does get in on a play he cannot seem to make anything happen. He also does not block very well, his drop off may be attributed to problem #3.

4) Secondary- I actually am not as down on the secondary as others are. I think if a few things are tweaked this will be a "decent" secondary, and with a great front and great linebackers, the defense should have a solid year. Dont get down on Travis it was his first game back from an injury. Will Allen at times is a very poor tackler and Tillman's coverage stinks. I like Bell a lot better than Tillman right now. I also think Goodman is better than Allen, and maybe I am wrong but I havent seen Goodman get burnt yet like some of our safeties and Will Allen.

3) Mike Mularkey- He is doing a poor job as OC thus far. His pass plays are vanilla and his routes are terrible. He does not go deep enough and when he does it is not at the right time. After a turnover or starting a drive are times I think we should look at finding Chris deep down field more often. Part of that may be the O-line but it still should be tried. Also, Ronnie Brown needs to have plays designed toward the sideline. That is where I think he will excel. He is great when he gets an initial burst. Mularkey really is a major downgrade from Linehan.

2) Culpepper- He is not mobile enough and he is holding onto the ball way too long. How much of this is the O-Line's fault I dont know, but regardless. Whether he is still hurt or just washed up, that is for you to decide. Regardless Harrington deserves a shot while we are still alive in the season. Culpepper does not give us a good chance to win right now and playing a team like Houston, Harrington may be the way to go.

1) O-line- Just plain awful. Shelton is horrible. James is a huge dissapointment. If this line does not improve Ronnie will have a long long year, Culpepper will be severely injured, Miami wont win 5 games.

I just love how everyone blames the OL when things are going bad. Of the 15 sacks this years 12 are either Danute failing to properly read the defense and not getting into a play that can work, or Danute holding on to the ball too long. The best OL in the league could play a high school front 4 and if the QB holds the ball as long as Danute has been holding it he is gonna get sacked.
The OL run blocking is pretty bad but pass protection is not a weakness. We are league average or slightly better. Danute just has to get healthier and get his timing back.
We will be fine. The schedule could not have been more kind to us. If we can beat Houston next week that will give us one more week to get our timing down against the worst defense in the league before we play the pats. That means we will both probably be 2-2 when we play them because they play the Bengals.
The biggest problem I see with the team right now is QB and LBs. We need more play makers at the LB spot. When blitz we never get to the QB b/c the backers can't beat a block. We really need to get Porter next off season.

How much time has been Daunte's "holding to the ball" average when sacked?

I like your analysis. The only thing I would change is number 2 with number 1.

Mike Mularkey is the number 1 problem for the dolphins.

What are you saying? I bet you have not seen a single game this year. Most sacks happened less than two seconds from the start of the play.

No our Oline is the biggest problem NOW... all other aspects that were discussed throught the first 2 games have largely been addressed. Daunte took better cre of the ball... didnt throw an INT or turn over for a change. Our secondary still seems to have lapses in it. Our running game sucks because of the oline... McMike isnt our downt the field because he's always in for pass protection. But he does have to step up when his number is called. Booker and Welker are looking like our most consistent players on offense.

Are you serious? We have played 3 games now, if you can't see that the OL is the problem then you must be watching different games. They cannot run block OR pass block. The majority of the sacks have been caused by the fact that the OL can't give more than 2 seconds worth of protection.
Daunte has held onto the ball too long on occasions and should be throwing it away but overall the OL is to blame for most of the sacks.

It's the left side of the OL. Notice Ronnie hardly runs that way? He had only 4 carries that direction vs. the Titans, he netted negative 3 yards on those 4 carries. To the right side he ran 15 times for 53 yards. Up the middle he ran 8 times for 40 yards.

You left out #6. The WRs.

Apparently, if Daunte's hanging on to the ball too long, their route running so far is leaving much to be desired.

How many times yesterday did you see Daunte scan the field and find nothing?

Jaworski was on ESPN yesterday after the game and stated that he had looked at DC's performance by reviewing the coach's tape of his games so far this year and what he saw was allot of open receivers down field - he said DC wasn't doing a good job of anticipating their breaks and waiting too long to throw it.

The line definitely isn't one of the best in the league, but I doesn't look like DC is feeling the pressure, moving well in the pocket, or seeing receivers down field. He'd better get it together soon with three road games coming up and two against division teams or this season is in trouble.
