Here's my attempt to rank the AFC.

1. New England -- Until proven otherwise
2. Jacksonville -- May have best defense in NFL
3. Pittsburgh -- Consistently in the running
4. Kansas City -- Did they make the right decision at qb?
5. Tennessee --- Could take that next leap. Lots of talent.
6. Baltimore --- Quietly went 9-7 last year.
7. Miami --- Tannehill's return huge for Dolphins.
8. San Diego -- Talent is there. Coaching?
9. Houston -- Watson's return could put them in playoff chase.
10. Buffalo --- Made playoffs in 2017. Was that a mirage?
11. Cincinnati -- Somehow Lewis is still HC.
12. Denver -- Tough team to predict. Pass rush could lift them.
13. Oakland -- Will Gruden's old school approach doom Raiders?
14. Cleveland -- I see 5-11
15. Indianapolis -- If Luck is healthy this could change.
16. New York Jets -- How soon will Darnold start?

I think Jets are middle of pack at worst- regardless of darnold. they were young and aggressive last yr- will be more confident this yr.

I'd bump the Ravens and Bills further down and the Chargers and Jets further up.

I think the KC QB will struggle this year. I don't see them as a top 10 team.
Had trouble with KC. A lot depends on the quarterback position there. In fact the whole AFC West is hard to predict. I think any team can win that division and any team can finish last. I love San Diego's talent, but not sure about their coaching. Will be an interesting division.

I'm unbelievably skeptical of Mike Vrabel as head coach of the Tennessee Titans. The only reason I'm not outright marking that team down in the bottom rung of the AFC is that Mike Mularkey was a dreadful coach and the Titans were competitive with him at the helm. Even if Vrabel turns out to be a bad coach, he could still be an upgrade.

If the Pats start to drop off at all this is the year that we find a very weak AFC. If we had a better team, we could be up in the running.
