Ranking the NFL

Rex Ryan has changed the culture with the Jets. You can argue a 7 is strong for a guy who has never coached a game. I'm saying it might be too low.

Enough said, what a moron. How can you give high points to someone who never coached. Did he not remember the Cameron epic Fail.

Forgetting about the ranking at first (b/c I don't agree with the Patriots in first, I'd say 8-11) I would rather see us at like 9-12. I look on paper what we have and I impressed by what I see. I think we can only go up from here which puts us in the upper echelon of teams because we have a very very solid foundation.

The Pats are going to be very tough this year!

Their offence looks great. They have great receivers and I think the signing of Fred Taylor gives them an added something at Back.

They have a seasoned group that give them a few practices they should be putting up numbers like they have in the past.

I agree, but placing them first just b/c Brady is back? That's a little forward don't you think. I mean all the reporters are gushing on his return just because they buy into the information that the team releases about him.

Seems a little odd imo, I'm just saying don't crown them just because they have their qb "back". Let's just be realistic.

Not just Brady...

they are going to rate high for coach, owner, intangibles....defense might be their lowest rating....and they're at least average.

IMO, #1 has to be them or the Steelers....they went Patriots.

Indy at 7? Coaching just changed bigtime and he graded them with old coaching staff for giggles he says....wtf?

I've thought about this a lot and I have come up a few conclusions on the subject.

1. Would they have moved Cassel if they thought Brady may not be ready to go? I don't know the answer but my gut tells me that if they had doubt, Cassel would still be in New England.

2. It is Tom Brady. The guy is a winner. He always has been a winner. He's been a winner although everything about him athletically tells me otherwise.

3. I can't believe I'm making an arguement for the freakin Pattsy's! I hate myself!

Maybe the jets are a little too high for my taste, and there are a few other like Phillly and Atlanta but for the most part I agree. The reason I wouldn't put us a lot higher is we did just have a owner change and that should put us down a little until time passes and he proves himself a little more. I like the changes he has made so far but lets let some time pass.
Another reason I think we are not a little highe is Parcells tends to not let moss grow underfoot. He tends to get the itch to move from place to place. I love TS and Irlend but we need all three in place to continue to improve and then stay on top to make a long run of always being a favorite like the pats. So for the most part I mostly agree with the rankings. Our future looks brighter than most on the list and I can see us moving up in the next couple of years. JMO

sorry but i disagree with most of the list first the pats sorry but if the coaches and ownership is so good why is there d so bad? the only reason it is average is because the o puts up big numbers so the d can relax. second the cowboys sorry but jerry jones is horrible and wade phillips only did well with what parcells left him. the d not fast enough the o can't win. third the jets sorry but a new coach and they are great come on. qb not good and the o's supporting staff weak. yes their d got better but it's not proven. and so on and so forth. for the phins " don't know if penny can do it again" all i know is he's a winner the coaching staff turned a run down team into a contender. yes the o is not great but it can and will be. the d is proven and it got better. so imo the phins should have been in the top ten considering that atlanta, tennesee, and the rebuilt coaching staff of the colts are in the top ten.

This guy and Mel Kipper Jr. should get together and chat. That way it would spare us their nonsense!

He has teams with massive instability ranked VURRRY high, and why is everyone infatuated with the Eagles this season?

I'd rank Pitt ahead of NE. They've won two SB's since NE claimed their last title. Recently, I think NE's been getting away with what made them a great team. They built their title teams much the way that Pittsburgh built their title teams (much the way we're building this team): through the trenches with the draft.

NE's still in the top 2 or 3. I just think that the Steelers are clearly better. Also, there has been less negativity swirling around Pittsburgh, and I think that should count for something.

Schein is an obvious axe wound. The Dolphins made a massive jump last season, and they're putting the pieces together without cutting corners. That the Dolphins are doing all the little things, from their players to their coaching staff to the FO, makes this my favorite time to be a Dolphin fan (keep in mind, I started watching them in the early 90s). It's the first time I've experienced the Dolphins knowing exactly what they're doing. I don't think there are 10 other teams in the NFL that can - truthfully - say that they know exactly what they're doing.

I don't think the Eagles should be ranked ahead of us - let alone at number three. The Raven just lost their DC and arguably their best defensive player. The Cardinals? The Jets? The Cowboys? And rating the Browns lower than the Raiders is just stupid.
