1. Quarterback Chad Pennington - Adding one of the NFL's most accurate quarterbacks drastically improved the offense, and Pennington's leadership and steady play led the Dolphins to a miraculous 10-win improvement.

2. Outside linebacker Joey Porter - Four-time Pro Bowler re-established himself as one of the elite pass-rushing linebackers by tallying 17½ sacks. But his play tapered off during the second half of the season.

3. Left tackle Jake Long - Long established himself as one of the NFL's promising young tackles with a productive rookie season, and the first pick of the 2008 draft was invited to the Pro Bowl as an alternate

Apparently, Omar Kelly thinks that Channing Crowder had the 6th most impact out of all of the Miami Dolphins players in 2008 and 3rd amongst the defensive players. Omar, unlike most of the south Florida journalists, really is impartial and I trust his opinion.

Now that someone with credibility is saying that Crowder is an asset to this team, maybe some of the haters on this board will realize what he means to this defense. You know who you are. Open your eyes people.

Why would any dolfan value a journalists opinion over their own?

I'm not a Channing 'hater' but he's way too high on that list. Goodman is too low. Ricky and Bess are criminally low. Renaldo Hill doesn't belong.

2. Ronnie Brown
3. Joey Porter
4. Justin Smiley
5. Jason Ferguson
6. Jake Long
7. Yeremiah Bell
8. Andre Goodman
9. Greg Camarillo
10. Ted Ginn
11. Anthony Fasano
12. Ricky Williams
13. Davone Bess
14. Will Allen
15. Channing Crowder
16. David Martin
17. Akin Ayodele
18. Patrick Cobbs
19. Matt Roth

Well, I never said I value a journalists opinion over my own, I'm just goddamn sick of everyone on this board ripping on Channing.

I would agree that he may be ranked a bit high on Omar Kelly's list, but he is definitely an impact player and a leader on the Dolphins defense. I just really hope that the two sides can come to an agreeable contract. Even Channing knows that he is not a superstar, but he is definitely currently underpaid.

I think if they offer him a reasonable contract before FA starts, he'll take it. I also think that would be the best route for the Dolphins to take until they find TWO PROVEN ILB's that can outperform him. As far as I know, there is noone like that on the roster. And even if we get a good FA ILB, like Bart Scott, we cannot fill the other spot with an unproven rookie or any of the other current LBs on our roster better than we could with Channing.

Man I hate to say it but....Ronnie Brown making the pro bowl is a bit flawed. Proves it is a popularity contest, either that or they really want to see the Wildcat in the Pro Bowl game. That would be pretty awesome.

well you had better get used to it because its not gonna stop until he either fills Zach Thomas' shoes or everyone forgets ZT. ONe of the two.

How is Channing Crowder an impact player?

How is Channing Crowder an impact player?

I would probably say because he is your leading tackler of the LB group, and probably the 5th or so highest in the paycheck department of said group!

I respect everyone having their opinion and voicing it, but what I don't understand is how we don't recognize how this man, in spite of his paycheck, went out this year and laid it all on the line for this team...the man is being paid "peanuts"!!!...

How many LB's in this league that have 100+ tackles are making what he does?...seriously!

Not even trying to be funny at all, we have some pretty good researchers on this site, I would be interested to know how he ranks compared to people that are tendered for what we are paying him.

(Where is CK when you need him?)

Man I hate to say it but....Ronnie Brown making the pro bowl is a bit flawed. Proves it is a popularity contest, either that or they really want to see the Wildcat in the Pro Bowl game. That would be pretty awesome.

how is it a popularity contest??? ronnie is not amongst the top 3 popular rbs in the afc.

Ronnie made the pro bowl against New England. That one game basically out him in the spotlight with the media. Slaton deserved it more but its not like Ronnie is the only player that went over a more deserving player. Phillip rivers was not chosen either.

The Miami Dolphins player with the biggest impact this year was Jake Long, hands down!...

To have a rookie come in at one of the toughest positions in football and play the way that he did for this team was awesome!...without Long we don't win 7 games, even with Pennington.

But the biggest testiment to that is the praise he received from All-Pro LB Terrell Suggs, where he said that,"He never worked so hard against any LT in this league!".

And those are the words "All-Pro" in front of Sugg's name, so he has seen a few great LT's IMO!

Long will end his career as the greatest LT to ever wear the Dolphins uni, barring injury...

Crowder is on his rookie contract, of course he isn't going to be paid that highly. That being said, Channing is a linebacker. You expect your ILB to get a whole lot of tackles.
