There's a long way until the draft in May with a lot of things to come in free agency. But, as of now I wanted to rank who I see as the top 10 targets at #8. I'm assuming players like Bosa and Ramsey will be gone.

1. Hargreaves CB --- As of now, Miami's biggest needs are guard and corner. The corner position is kind of like pitching in baseball in that you can never have enough. Hargreaves looks like a shut down corner. The addition of Vance Joseph as DC for the Dolphins could mean that Miami can get a stopgap veteran at corner. If so, that doesn't necessarily eliminate Hargreaves. Not sure if the team keeps Brent Grimes either.

2. Stanley OT --- Notre Dame's left tackle could solve two issues for Miami. In the short-term he could move inside to left guard. In the long-term he could be the Dolphins starting left tackle. Brandon Albert is a really good player when he's on the field, but has been injury prone and is getting up in years. Adam Gase is an offensive coach so you know he'll value a player like Stanley who can protect his quarterback.

3. Ragland MLB -- I keep coming back to Ragland. Ragland would provide a tone setter at middle linebacker that Miami hasn't had in a long time. He's excellent against the run, a leader, and ran Nick Saban's pro style defense at Alabama. He's not someone who can eliminate players like Gronk from an attack, but he's good enough in coverage to be a three down player.

4-5 Smith/Jack OLB/MLB -- Both are athletic playmakers who can match up in the passing game really well. My only reservation is that I see them both as weakside linebackers (pro-bowl potential there) and both are coming off injuries. Both have played in the middle, though.

6. Robinson DT/DE -- The addition of N. Suh was supposed to free the linebacker up to make plays in Miami's defense. The only problem was that the Dolphins didn't get much opposite of Suh at defensive tackle. While this hasn't often been mentioned as a weak spot, I definitely see it that way. Robinson may be the best defensive tackle in a draft that will see quite a few of these guys go early. He is a run stopper, but can push the pocket and is said to be a leader. I think he'd be an excellent complement to Suh. Hopefully Jordan Phillips will continue to develop and be more than a flash player as well, giving Miami a nice rotation at DT.

7-8. Buckner/Lawson DE --- Olivier Vernon should be a priority for Miami to re-sign this offseason. If that doesn't happen, Buckner and Lawson move up near the top of this list.

9. Elliott RB --- Ohio State's star running back can do it all, catch out of the backfield, run with power and speed, and block. I don't think Miami goes round 1 for a running back, although that was rumored last year with Todd Gurley. I don't think Elliott is in Gurley's category as a runner, but he is good. If the Dolphins don't sign Lamar Miller, this could be a wildcard pick.

10. Apple CB -- Another Ohio State player is moving up the charts. I think Apple will end up near the top 10 when all is said and done. He would add much needed size to the Dolphins secondary.

From your list I'll take Hargreaves, Ragland or Robinson and Jack.

If Tannebaum is truly calling the shots then my money is on Buckner. Also based on what I've read Miami wants to get bigger at LB. This makes me think Jack and Smith won't be on their board.

I think you might be on to something with Eli Apple.

So, are we once again going change the defense and have the wrong makeup in our LB corp. There is no way Jenkins can play in a 3-4. He will get engulfed by the OL. He needs the big boys up front to keep the OL off of him. Just asking? Also I do not think any of the FA LBs we got last year could survive the change.

From this list, I'd only take Hargreaves or Jack at #8. If neither is available, I'd look to trade down.

PS although unlikely I wouldn't entirely cross off Bosa and Ramsey. The reason these other teams are picking so high is because their front offices are as inept as ours. So anything is possible.

Joseph has stated that we are keeping the 4-3 scheme, I would add Ogbah to the list as well if we lose Vernon in FA.

Stanley's SERIOUSLY overrated. Watch every play of him against Clemson (mostly vs Shaq Lawson) I linked in an earlier thread. He looked bad. He will be a bust. AVOID.

If we really want to get bigger at LB I don't see how Smith wouldn't be on our board, he has great height at 6'3 and has the athleticism to play bigger. He needs to add on to his weight , currently at 230 lbs but he has a lot of room on his frame to add muscle.

Eli Apple seems to be rising quickly, will be interesting to see how the combine goes, he could shoot up draft boards as some are predicting here.

If Jack is there you run up to the podium and laugh.

If Ramsey is gone and Bosa is gone, you grab Hargreaves and still consider your first day a great one. Then you look at what 1st round grade offensive linemen slipped through the cracks in this very deep offensive tackle draft and evaluate the teams ahead of you versus available players. Suddenly we're staring down a 1st round quality tackle with our 2nd round pick.

I didn't say we were switching to a 3-4. I said I read that Miami wanted bigger LB's but this also contradicts reports that Vigil will be given a shot. So who knows who to believe?

Hadn't watched that game and I have to say you're right. I was looking at Stanley as a legit option for us at #8, but the way he got treated by Lawson and co would definitely make you go back and look again. A lot of the Clemson penetration was schematic, guys getting free runs to the QB, the RB Prosise not picking up blitzers etc., but on the 1-2-1 matchups that Stanley had he was clearly overwhelmed a lot of the time with the pace and the power.

Tks.

I've also soured on Stanley but you can't let one game influence your evaluation. Jake Long was abused by Vernon Gholston his senior year. Injuries aside, Jake was pretty good.

Bosa and Ramsey will be gone. I don't see Hargreaves as a top ten guy.

I think the pick boils down to linebacker or Stanley.

I think Jaylon Smith Still is in play...too much talent(Todd Gurley effect).

I think it will be Jack or Smith.

I agree but it was the way he was beaten that struck me. If you told me Lawson beat him a few times with his spin move I'd probably shrug my shoulders. But he got manhandled and I would have rated Stanley highly mainly on his anchor and his ability to repel the bullrush. He looked overmatched and he screwed up a fair few assignments. One game but quite a telling one.

Lawson's Combine will determine how we should view that matchup imo. If Lawson tests like a top-15 player, credit to Lawson, and it's not too damming for Stanley; if he doesn't, the performance should be scrutinized.
