FWIW, here are some feel good league ranking for our D for your Monday:

9th best in PPG
9th in yards per play
6th in time spent on the field (most time)
14th yards per game
10th best 3rd down %
T12 takeaways per game
7th best in opponents 4th QTR scoring
9th best in opponents passing yards per game
T3 best in opponents passing TDs per game
2nd best in opponents passer rating (Sea 1st)
T6th sacks per game

I'd say its a good D. Like seeing the O moving the ball better recently. Time to punch in it more and go on a run.

Considering the offense hasn't scored 28 all season, and that Miami has been in every game but one, I'd say the D has done just fine. If this team averages just 3ppg more it would be a totally different playoff picture.

Don't forget this huge stat: The Miami Dolphins are 2nd in the NFL in picks. We have made 16 INT's, just behind Tampa, with 17 INT's. Remember when we had guys like Gibril Wilson, Sean Smith and Vontae Davis, who couldn't catch a cold. Now we are forcing turnovers all over the place. :brewskis:

"The Dolphins are tied for 2nd with 16 interceptions. The other teams with 16 int's include Buffalo, Carolina and Seattle.....Tampa Bay leads the league with 17."

the numbers would be sick if the lbs played the run better than they have...d would really be dominant then

I am astonished that teams have not fumbled (like yesterday's botched handoff) and the defense gets the recovery or the defense does not force fumbles more from ball carriers and receivers. Seems like it happens everywhere in the league. Last year the ball was on the ground a ton and the defense NEVER got it. Kind of crazy.

The pick total is great.

LB play is correct, Hoops. No doubt.

Yea, they can be better but it's not really that horrible. More consistency would be better but all teams could say that. We are giving up 13 more yards per game than last year.

The nice thing is this unit has the ability to do just that...turn it up. I'm not so sure Coyle is scheming for that though.

I contend our D is still Elite. If they didn't spend 70% of the game on the field, they would be ranked even better in every category.

I thought they did very well using Jordan and Vernon to mask the deficiencies of Ellerbe, and Wheeler. Jones also had a better game than he has been for big chunks of the season.

Our defense is my favorite part of the team right now. Not discrediting the recent success of the offense but our D has us in the wild card race. If they can continue to elevate their play we will make the playoffs. Defense wins championships. Offense just makes it look good while doing it.

easy team to gameplan for and against though due to the deficiencies at qb...

Very very true, but credit where credit is due and we limited them to pathetic total yardage, worse run yardage and 3 lousy points, which were hardly even deserved.

Misi has made a massive step up in coverage and Jordan looks extremely fluid out on space. Jimmy Wilson has had a reasonable run of games too.

Any given Sunday... You might want to ask the Patriots and Saints just to crosscheck.

you might want to watch jets recent offensive game tape...it's ugly as hell i can tell ya that...
