Rankings the AFC East WR corps

HAHAHA @ anyone who thinks Bess is better then Holmes. If we're purely talking about talent, it's not even close.

what is often overlooked is talent does not always equals results and production, ask every draft bust in the history of the game, they all had talent, some never harnessed it, some like Jamarcuss Russel were just lazy, some like David Carr were put in a bad situation combined with other issues, there is no denying Holmes has talent, his talent and potential is what got him drafted so early and helped him get started, but his work ethic and attitude outweighed his talent last season and we saw the results, someone like Bess who is not as "talented" as athletically gifted went undrafted, but his work ethic, smarts, and passion for the game helped him produce, theres is a reason someone with such a high pure talent level as Holmes had the same number of catches as a lowely undrafted #3 slot WR from Hawaii....

No ones talking about anything other then talent

No ones talking about anything other then talent

Actually, we're talking about "best WR corps", so in that case, Bess might, indeed, be better than Holmes. Holmes has more talent than Stevie Johnson (a 7th round pick), too, but who's been the better WR over the last 2 seasons?

You guessed it, he ranked us last. But would you expect any thing different from ESPN. I do not get all the doom and gloom when it comes to our WRs. In this offense, I think we are going to be fine.

ESPN is notorious for having it's own agenda, but let's be honest...is he really wrong here ?? The only proven guy we have is Bess, who is better suited to being a #3 than any other spot. He's not the fastest guy either, like some slot guys... Hartline has a lot to prove and the rest are/were camp fodder until the trade of marshall...the young guys...well, there's a lot of them and while they may have some potential...they don't compare to most of the rest of the league, now do they ?? C'mon...this isn't too far a stretch....at all...

It is what it is. Truth hurts. We got excellent value for Cunningham and Matthews. How soon can they contribute? They should sooner than later. Its Gates' time to show out. He will be needed. The analysis on Hartline and Bess is dead on. No number one, yet. Lack of production in red zone was the big issue as we know. Beefing up the TE position was critical. The Fins needed to search far and wide for more than one and did. Somebody needs to step up from the TE corps.

Nothing New from the Media

"Who is going to be the Dolphins slot WR? a undrafted rookie from Hawaii?"

"Who is going to rush the passer with the departure of Joey Porter? Can an undrafted player from the CFL really get to the QB and play the run?"

"With Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams gone, the Dolphins running game is a huge question mark, Reggie Bush can never be a full time producing Running Back"

"The Dolphins with the retirement of Jason Ferguson have a huge hole at DT with nobody to step in, Paul Solia has proven he can not take over the opening"

"Matt Moore is a career backup who can not challenge Henne or step in and produce if Henne goes down "

"Jimmy Wilson is a nice story but may not even make the roster let alone see the field"

Its easy to throw out negative predictions before they step on the field....

Right, the media is evil and bash us for no reason. I hate to break it to you, but we haven't won more than 7 games in 3 years. Does this team really deserve the benefit of the doubt?

So if Holmes is such a great receiver then why did Pitt get rid of him? If Holmes is such a great receiver then why did Pitt only get a 5th round pick for him (the same round pick we got for Ginn)? I can’t believe you are pumping rainbows into a guy who hasn’t had more than 52 receptions for the Jets, he is a very average player. Bess led the league in 3rd down conversions in 2010, he has never been suspended for personal conduct, he has never been traded and if he were we would surely get more than a 5th for him, he has never quit on his teammates in a must win situation (week 17 last year Holmes had a whopping 0 receptions in a must win game against Miami), he is a better route runner than Holmes, and he has better hands than Holmes. All of this added together is enough to easily outweighs the handful more touchdowns Holmes has scored. You've got a very weak argument at best.

Teams like Pitt have the luxury of dumping quality players who have off the field issues because they have a great quarterback. We have no quarterback, so we desperately need a guy like Marshall, to help make whichever loser is playing QB for us next tear look half decent. You can't argue with the article in the OP because you can't argue facts.
Our receiving corps is not a mystery, we know exactly what we have in Hartline and Bess, and its nothing to get excited about. We dumped our only real offensive threat and got dick in return. Awesome. Its amazing that anybody can justify this asinine move.

i wasnt talking records, im just saying everyone is so quick to judge any move that isnt approved by the talking heads at ESPN or the Miami media as a terrible move or questionable at best, or call a player a draft bust before he hits the field, the examples i used are all true, everyone of those moves were generally doubted and ripped by the media and fans and they all worked out, obviously it has gone the other way as well where the media and fans were right and someone was a bad move, but the "rankings" and "predictions" before a season start are more useless in the NFL than any other sport, ask the Bengals and 49ers last year, the million to one shot the Phins would go literally worst (1-15) to 11-5 division champs and a playoff spot (no matter how it happened Brady injured or w.e you want to say) it happened, and that teams talent level was atrocious, that WR group was less talented than this one, oline was worse, secondary was worse, oline was worse, and somehow it turned out pretty well

Im just so sick of losing and sick of the excuses. I don't really care if those individual situations worked out, because the simple fact is that they have netted us 20 wins in the past 3 years. Its an absolute joke, dude.
Get a real quarterback, start making the playoffs more than once a decade, and maybe then the fans will actually start coming back to the ****in stadium. So tired of it.
