Rapoport use to be a Patriots beat writer so I imagine he still has good sources so a good guy to follow today. I'm rooting for Casario. I know Armando reported that he was staying but couldn't confirm interview today so here is the confirmation apparently.

Supposedly Ross took a candidate to dinner last night. Good sign if it was Caserio and they agreed on a second interview.

Let's just pick one this weekend, you have 3 or 4 to choose from just pick the right one

I am getting the sense the Patriots beat writers and national guys who used to write for the Pats are nervous this morning. They seem to be worried that Miami might be able to steal one of the top front office guys from the Patriots.

It just feels too good to be true!

IF (and with Ross leading the way the IF is bigger than usual) we manage to hire this guy, I'm curious to see how the ESPNs and the NFL Networks of the world manage to spin it negatively for us and put a positive light on it for the Patriots somehow.

They'll turn on him and say he went to Miami only for the money. To them there can't be any other rational explanation.

Ok. So I know he is from NE but how was he involved with scouting and or picking players in the draft and free agency? I heard he was a WR coach for NE then also a scout for NE before then. If that's all true I'm ok I guess but what has he done recently to show he is a guy worth handing the GM spot to?

It takes TWO to dance dlockz. Granted if the man sat for a 2nd interview you would think the ball is in our court, but who knows.

Here is some info on him.

Caserio joined the Patriots in 2001 as a personnel assistant. In 2002, he served as an offensive coaching assistant coach for the team, while in 2003 he moved to the scouting department as an area scout. Caserio served as the Patriots' director of player personnel from 2004 to 2006 prior to spending the 2007 season as wide receivers coach.

In 2008 he returned to the personnel department, as director of player personnel. He remained in that position even after Vice President of Player Personnel Scott Pioli departed in 2009 to become general manager of the Kansas City Chiefs; former Tennessee Titans general manager Floyd Reese was brought in as a "senior football advisor." Throughout the 2009 preseason, however, Caserio assisted the offensive coaching staff, which included new wide receivers coach Chad O'Shea and tight ends coach Shane Waldron. Caserio also continued to assist the coaching staff from the press box during games along with football research director Ernie Adams.

he has been their top personnel guy

I'm sure Kraft and his finance people are in close contact with Casario's agent ready to give him a big pay raise to stay in NE. We will find this out as soon as we see the report that he turned our offer down to stay in NE. If so, well played by he and his agent.

The biggest problem is that NE may just name him a higher position and pay him more to keep him. If Im Kraft I don't let him go because BB and Brady will prob not be there much longer.
I would make Casario cost prohibitive to a hiring. That being said I hope it happens that we make him Gm

That doesn't have to be the case but if u can make more money in NE where you have worked for 10 years why not.

except that he doesnt want us.

The interview process is for both sides to determine a fit, not just one side. Thats when the money comes in once that is decided.
