Rapoport: Closed Door Meeting w/ Coyle This Week

How does getting rid of the DC at this juncture in a season help? It's not like the team can adopt a completely different scheme etc at this point. Whatever coach ends up taking over in the interim is essentially going to be running Coyles defensive. Except the play calling likely will be different.

Interesting article......

For the record....it is weak to leak to the media this type of conflict. Regardless of whether it is the players, coaches or Front Office doing it. I have no idea who called this meeting, but I'm glad they had it. Lets see if it helps.

Ironically, I read another article that said our defense was too simple and too predictable and that Joe had ordered Coyle to simplify things during the offseason. I have no idea what is true or not true....but we appear to be simplifying again.

Should be an interesting game today.

remember... who knows whom these "sources" actually are... but its pretty clear where a lot of the frustrations are lying around, and how the players are not being utilized or are being utilized incorrectly. examples given are quite obvious, where everyone had them in questions. therefore the article is basically on many question marks and confusions we have all had fro mthe start of the season.

but otherwise, its a great article for me to see that the team ,and staff does still care, and are trying to work through things as a family.. .as a team. there are fights within all families, there are confrontations, there are things always needed to be worked through and ironed out together. i am glad something has finally came to this (took long enough).

sadly its when its basically coming down to crunch time for the coaches... but obviously Coyle was one on the hot seat to be fired during the bye week... obviously there are player issues with the scheme. hopefully we can fix things out for the Jets game, and go into the bye week seeing if Coyle, Philbin, etc... are still with us or not.

It's NFL Sunday... cant think of the coaching staff being fired or not right now, they are here with us today... players, coaches, organization, and fans all need to stick together and work through this Jets game!!! gotta win!!!

...... whatever the future hold as of through the bye week, we will see and worry on that after.

Ask John Harbaugh. After he dumped Cam Cameron in season Jim Caldwell turned the offense around and the Ravens made the playoffs. Caldwell simply set up Flacco to succeed.

We could see a scenario where JP refuses to fire Kevin Coyle and is himself fired -- almost happened with Mike Sherman.

Joe Philbin made call to keep Kevin Coyle in February. Wants to keep him now. Steve Ross would have to intervene to make that happen now.

NFLN reporting Kevin Coyle is on the heat seat (no kidding) but one thing must be understood: Philbin will not fire him. Has to be owner.

If they can hash it out no problem, it remains to be seen if Coyle is going to change after everyone telling him scheme sucks.

Im with the jim schwartz option...failed hcs are quality coordinators usually

Although i still think if coyles fired they promote from within

Can anyone think of a guy coming in from the outside of a team midstream to coordinate for a team? I cannot think of one, but some good historians around here.

It was previously mentioned that the Ravens fired their OC Cam Cameron in their Super Bowl year.....went on to win it all. I don't recall if his replacement was already on the staff or not.

Interim? I can't recall an organization going outside while in season. Love Schwartz as a DC and no doubt he could get the defense to play but I can't see it happening.

and if I'm not mistaken, he fired him while the team was winning. Just didn't think the offense was good enough to win a SB w Cam calling it. That's the difference between a coach that gets it and another who's just trying to figure out how to properly use a time out.

Exactly...in season...promote from within just about a given...who though i have no idea...likely someone not qualified given the options
