What's your feeling on the performance of our safety play missing our defensive leader as playmaker? I realize the outcome of a win but what was your impression Abdul together?

It seemed like they ran Michael Thomas at Free Safety but after he got burned on that bad angle on the Goodwin TD, they seemed to move IAQ back to Free Safety and he almost got the pick on a similar play late in the game.

Truth is, and many don't want to hear this, SS is the easiest position on the defense to fill, so the idea of giving Reshad Jones some crazy deal, making him the highest paid safety in the league, just does not sit well with me. He is already paid like a top SS in the NFL, he should not get top FS money.

Was he missed yesterday? Yea he was, because IAQ would of never been moved to Strong and that long TD to Goodwin never happens . . . But honestly, they should of kept him at Free from the first snap.

IAQ has been solid all year . . . As Lou Delmas showed, this defense needs a quality FS to function, and IAQ is providing that. Another sneaky good signing from this front office in free agency at a great price.

The safeties for the most part played fantastic yesterday. I do not blame Thomas for that Goodwin TD because Maxwell was SO bad on that play that he was burned almost immediately with no time for anyone to help.

That said, I think this game and maybe the next are the ones we can get by without Reshad. Where you run into problems is when teams get enough game film on Thomas and IAQ and gameplan to expose their tendencies. Hoping they both step up more and more, especially Thomas who is majorly up and down thus far.

i felt the same regarding safety play although I think we will miss Jones at big times in upcoming games. Hope IAQ can stay healthy cause I like his play.

IAQ played well, but not enough his said of his critical 3rd down breakup where he ended the drive and knocked M. Goodwin out late in the 4th quarter.

That was so clutch. Big play. Had Taylor completed it, you would've been able to hear a pin drop @ Hard Rock.

the other aspect that made it so clutch was that he went for the ball and not the kill shot to separate it. with the asinine rules now if he would have hit him shoulder to chest it would have likely been a 15 yard penalty. he went after the ball and let his momentum provide the disruption.

So who would you put at SS? I'd try Walt Aikens honestly and I know he got some snaps yesterday (he tackled Reggiw Bush on his "TD"). Aikens was very physical in the preseason and Thomas isn't the most physical player

Great question . . . And my answer would be "not IAQ" . . . He is too important at FS even though he is also the best SS on the roster. The other guys are "on paper" better FS fits rather than SS, but I would not move IAQ from FS.

Like you, I would lean Aikens over Thomas, and keep Thomas as utility depth at safety and nickel CB.

Oh please. I don't know if you're serious but if you are it's pretty silly. We have the best safety in the league and he has saved our butts so many times I can't even count it anymore.

He said that because his name is spelt Reshad not Rashad.

Do you mean the safety that has been playing for the Dolphins since 2010 and spells his name Reshad...not Rashad.
