Rasul Douglas declines offer

There isn’t much reason for Douglas or any other older 30+ vet to sign before camp unless it’s the deal he’s looking for. May as well sit on his number and see if the Dolphins or another team gets desperate. He at least knows what they’re willing to start with if he has to circle back.

You cannot question my fandom dude. Been squeezed, tortured, beaten, spit on, flogged by this organization since 1979
And I’m still here. And still being squeezed, tortured, beaten, spit on and flogged
Yeah just joking around with da Clown 😂

Good he's no longer very good anyway. Would have been a waste of cap space.

I am sure our offer was very low, since Douglas can't play for **** and will be 31 years old in 3 months. We learned our lesson with Jordan Poyer, and Douglas is just another washed up vet looking for one last paycheck. We wont get 100% from this clown. Glad we stood our ground and let the fool walk.

Not that I make a habit of defending Grier but if they’d have paid Campbell what he wanted we would have lost Holland’s 4th round compensatory pick. A 4th rounder for a one year rental of a 39 year old? Not sure that move deserves criticism.

Yeah true I hadn't thought of that

I have never heard of retaining your own pending FA as counting against eh comp pick formula. Plus, Holland gets hurt or playing time goes down, the comp pick goes way down too.

It does in terms of if you lose the player that counts in your favor. If you re-sign the player that's oneless free agent lost, so the more quality free agents you lose the better. Think of it as losing 3 good free agents will help you more than just losing 2 equally rated free agents.

The only reason Rasul is still available is that 2024 was his worst season. In 2023-2021, he was solid. If you signed him, you'd be doing so with the hope/belief he could recapture his level of the three previous years.
He turns 30 in late August.

C.J. Henderson is still available, too. Formerly the 9th overall pick by the Jags in 2020. He didn't play last season, only on the Steelers' PS. He's been a bust, especially considering draft status, but he is only 26 and could be a reclamation project. Miami native, attended Christopher Columbus HS. Maybe a hometown discount?
