Rate The Dolphins Projected Starters?

PFF is doing a run down of every team's projected starters. The link is for Buff to show how. I thought it would be interesting to see how the forum rated our projected starts, and then compare to PFF when they get to Miami. Here's the breakdown they use.

Elite starter-

High Quality starter-

Solid starter, Valuable role player-

Adequate starter, Solid role player-

Below Average starter, Adequate role player

Poor starter, gamble-

I know we have a lot of FA's but, that is a part of who we have to rate for now. Could be some fun.

High Quality starter- Pouncey, Tannehill, Wallace, Clay, Starks

Solid starter, Valuable role player- Hartline, Soliai, Odrick, Vernon, Misi, Ellerbe, Clemons, Gibson, Miller

Adequate starter, Solid role player- Jones, Jerry, Clabo, Wheeler, Carroll,

Below Average starter, Adequate role player- Brenner

Poor starter, gamble- McKennie

This was tougher than it looked, and had some on the bubble between one grade and another.

I wasnt going to post at all in this thread tbh. I find the exercise to be kinda pointless. I did LOL @ someone posting Soliai who is a very good player as an adequate starter while he lists Tannehill as high quality. He also lists a couple of bums as solid starters who are adequate at best.

Glad you got a laugh. I had Soliai as solid, and considered the valuable role player used by PFF on a few others. Not gonna get into Tannehill with ya, exercise in futility. However, I think they should have added Above Average starter in the middle of High Quality and Solid.

Disclaimer: I am a Tannehill supporter and I think he has what it takes to eventually become a very good quarterback... At this point, to list him as anything more than an adequate starter (which means AVERAGE) is bias. I also think some of you are translating SOLID to mean AVERAGE which is not correct.

The listing is pretty flawed, being skewed to viewing players in a positive light (Elite, High Quality, Solid are all signifying above average) then you have adequate (which signifies averages).


Here's my take on it:

Adequate (average) - Tannehill, Clemons, Misi, Ellerbe, Sturgis
Below Average - Wheeler, Brenner, Carroll, R. Jones, Clabo (only cause he closed out the season well)
Poor - McKinnie, Jerry

My list, which is just my opinion, shows that the majority of our players fall in the categories of above average, average, below average - overall an average talent level which would explain an 8-8 record. Can only go by what production we've had and throwing all potential and what could've been out the window, this team is truly average.

Where it got confusing for me was by PFF adding Valuable role player to Solid Starter, and Solid role player to Adequate starter, etc. I thought they were asking for either/or which makes a big difference.
