My opinion for what it's worth is that WR is beyond a normal need, it's a crying need. We are soaked in mediocrity at the position. If Ginn can settle in at #3 option and kickoff returner for the next couple of years, great. But we need "the man." Braylon Edwards- might have been worth a shot, maybe not. But the dude was a stud at 24, just what the doctor ordered for our team IF he could bring it again. Big if, but I commend the Jets balls and acumen in getting a stud QB in Sanchez and #1 WR for so little in return, and he's only 26.

Anyway, the purpose of this thread is WR's for next year, draft and FA. How do you rank them, who do you prefer?

I'd have to say Dez Bryant #1, just about the entire package- size, go-to guy, pretty good quicks, strength, hands. Reminds me of Boldin with more speed and explosion. But at the same time I wouldn't by any means say top shelf speed and quicks. I don't know what his 40 time is, but to me Aurelius Benn looks faster.

Aurelius Benn- maybe the most intriguing to me. I see everything there, even moreso than Bryant. Size, pure speed, quicks, strength, looks like he has soft hands, too. He still seems like more of a gamble than Bryant, less of a sure thing. But talentwise, this dude has it in spades. I'm basically focusing on speed though, and maybe that's a disservice to Bryant. It's not like Bryant is slow by any means, I just see more pure speed in Benn.

Brandon Lafell- very good, but does he have the explosion to warrant a #1 pick? Love his size, hands look good, but Ireally don't know, I haven't been blown away by what I've seen. Looking forward to seeing LSU tomorrow against UF, should be a good test for Lafell.

Decker- like him, but not sure that he's what we need in terms of a #1- we already have a Hartline type, but Decker is good, no doubt.

Damian Williams- shifty, excellent route runner, but is he the #1 that we need? Not so sure, need to see more of him, too.

My best guess is that I would pull the trigger on Bryant or Benn with our first, I'm not so sure about Lafell, need to see more. Be it draft or FA, I do think that it's time for us to step up to the plate and fill a drastic need. Just my opinion, Curious as to yours- not sure what's out there in FA, bring it on.

Anyone have feedback on Mike Williams? Haven't seen Syracuse play this year.

I like Golden Tate round 2-3. Reminds me of Steve Smith of the Panthers.

Tate is interesting, good athlete. But in terms of a 1st rd pick for the Fins my immediate reaction is:

Bryant- yes
Benn- yes
Lafell- not sure, but he fits my profile
Gilyard- no
Decker- no, but damn good player

Danario Alexander- I saw very little of the Missou game last night, would have liked to have seen him play

Jacoby Ford- smaller guy, but a deep threat. Probably a 3rd rd guy as things stand now. Dude is fast as hell, want to see more though.

Why not?

benn is my favorite with bryant being a close second. i like tate a lot but he doesn't have the size. lafell is good but i like tolliver more for some reason - too bad he's a youngin - and too bad they don't have a QB worth a damn. decker and williams are pretty good but not sure about their #1 potential in the NFL.

benn and bryant are the only ones i would take in the 1st round.

It won't matter. The Dolphins either stick with the guys they have or go after Vincent Jackson if he enters FA.

Gilyard is good, but I'm looking for a WR with wheels, size and strength- a go to type of guy. I might be selling Gilyard short- I want to see more of him, not easy catching Cincinnatti football games on tv.

I'm still focused on Bryant, Lafell and Benn because they fit the profile, especially Bryant and Benn. Very much looking forward to seeing Lafell tonight, I want to see some explosion.

Bryant looks like a beast, and Benn really has my attention. The greedy part of me says Benn because of the speed advantage, but Bryant is that alpha male, dominant #1. Maybe it's like choosing between Andre Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald, or better yet Johnson and Boldin. With apologies to Fitzgerald, I would take Johnson over any WR in the NFL. Consumate size/strength deep threat.

Will Bryant come out after this year and the suspension? I don't know. But I imagine that he'll be gone before we pick. Benn- in the absence of us getting a top flight Wr in FA I would say that there's a good chance that we would take him. Lafell- maybe, I'm just not sure- again, looking forward to the game tonight and seeing some explosion out of him.

Everyone has their opinions, but I see WR as the single most glaring need on this team. Maybe we take a Jerry Hughes, Brandon Spikes or Terrence Cody, I don't know. But regardless of the Parcells WR draft record in the 1st round/lack of picking there, I could easily see us going WR #1 in the 1st. And the most logical pick so far at the position seems to be Benn, as in all likelihood Bryant won't be there. And all of this is aauming of course that these two come out this year.

We should wait for A.J. Green.

i'd say wait too - i'd rather get a LB or NT in the 1st round this year. i don't like the crop this year all that much after the top 2 guys. possibly get a FA for a #1 receiver. if it's still a need - next year we could pick b/n a.j. and julio - who i like more than benn and bryant.

I'm thinking the same thing, dicey after Bryant and Benn. Need to see more of Lafell, but as things stand now I'd be happy with either next year in 1st. As always, it's a question of what do you pass up by taking one of them. Nonetheless, I'd probably pull the trigger in the 1st on Bryant or Benn if available.

being from iowa, I get to see a lot of benn.

would love it if we were to land him.

too bad we would have to tank this year, because at this point I see benn maybe being in the top ten selections. but anything can happen. I really don't want to see us picking way up in the draft again for awhile.

well, i think you may be disappointed then.

Even though Lafell didn't have a big game last night i'm more inclined to say yes to him as a potential #1 pick for us, still not sure though. It's not exactly a scientific approach, more of a feel in terms of how he moves and what I could see out of his route running. What I'm looking for ideally is a go to guy with size- still have to rate them Bryant/Benn/Lafell, with Benn being the most intriguing. he hurt his shoulder, not sure how bad.
